Some great comments in this thread. I can't choose one surprise.
○ Armstead
○ Bosa. I thought he'd be good but NFC Defensive Player of the Month in his second month in the NFL?
○ The difference the new coaches make (Kocurek, Woods)
○ Tevin Coleman, a times, is much better than I expected
○ The offensive play calling has been amazing. I can't wait to see what Kyle has in his bag of tricks for Seattle, New Orleans, Green Bay...
So many great things this year.

Skule
Brunskill
Moseley
Things would have been a lot worse without those three stepping up and playing well.

Bosa was projected by everyone to be a stud. I picked AA because no one saw him playing this well this season.

For me, this is easily Arik Armstead. He's playing at an elite level this season.

I said Bosa because he has been better than I expected. I had some doubts because I hadn't seen many of his games. Highlights are one thing but they only show the big plays. I always like to see what a player does when he isn't making the big play. Well Bosa is always impacting the play because of his relentless pursuit so even when another player gets the tackle it's often because of Bosa applying pressure from the other side.

I didn't think Bosa would be this good or this healthy. But he is a pleasant surprise. Armstead is an absolute shock. I didn't know he could play this good. I didn't know he was even capable of it.

This. I figured everyone would play better because the talent level was going up, but Armstead is playing at a pro bowl level. Dude is going to make bank.

I think the production we're getting from late round pick and UDFA's is fantastic.

The biggest surprise is being 9 - 1 after 10 games. But Armstead is a huge surprise. I really didn't even know he could play this good. I just worry it is because it is a contract year and then he will go back to his normal self. But he has benefited from outside pass rush, more experience and other things too.

Armstead.
Before the season, I would have laughed in your face if you told me that I'd be thinking of ways to get him resigned under the cap.
