Great win in a classic trap game that was also a Thursday nighter too. Good teams find a way to win when the deck is stacked against them and things aren't going smoothly. Jimmy showed the world that if you dare him to beat you, he will take you up on that offer. I actually come out of this game even more optimistic, the run game will return to form with rest and fresh horses are coming. The Defense was obviously behind the 8 ball with the short rest and all that speed at QB and RB I don't think there is even a fix to be made other than some time with to sleep, heal and put their feet up.
They actually got a handle on this game all the way up until second half of the 4th qtr. That quick mistake to give the Cards a late TD made Jimmy to the rescue.

The way I see it, returning the favor to the defense the last 7 games

They needed a game like this. It exposes weaknesses, gives them an ample slice of humble pie and provides them opportunities for much needed improvement to an otherwise strong team.

Its good that they got the W especially since it was the passing attack that carried a lot the load.
I would rather the 49ers get this "bad" game out of our system now. Makes them focus on the second half of the season and gives them extra time to prepare against the Seacucks.

Yup. Just said something similar in the Bosa thread.

You need adversity in a season to give you a wake up call, especially for a young team. Always better to get that adversity with a W instead of an L.

I expect the defense to fix the issues we saw yesterday in a big way.

Also worth noting...Drake was easily the best player for Arizona all game long. He also had the most rest of anyone on both teams having last played on 10/20.

Not having tape on him in that offense certainly didn't help either.

D will be ok. Kwon's health is my biggest concern with them.

fans are fooling themselves if they think we will win every game 55-10, short week. on the road. a decent offensive team, a new running back. i thought it would be 24-21. at least the talk of jimmy not balling is a dead issue. if it was even a issue in the first place. i was not happy esp with the 88 yd td run and the fact that the back ran through us easily. but its football as kittle said. last night jimmy and the offense paid by the defense for the win vs the skins
Cardinals and Klye Murray were doing good job because Cardinals is almost beat the 49ers but 49ers won. Whew.

it was that running back . got pretty intense but nice to see jimmy make an amazing play to this tight end who not many have heard of!

The screen game was killing SF last night. They are usually very good vs it. I chalk it up to having no time to game plan vs an offense they haven't seen anything like all yr and Kwon being out (which hurt in coverage run D not so much).

Good win. Our run D had been a weakness the past few weeks which makes me concerned about facing Carson, Jones, and Kamara over the next month, especially if we don't have Kwon. Let's hope we can make some adjustments during this extended break and come back more solid up front. I'm very excited for this stretch run guys.
Lots of great commentary and insight in here (as usual) with folks saying many of the same things I have been thinking. Chalk this game up to it being a Thursday night game and the reality that Arizona is not as bad as they were last year. Murray was the right pick for the Cardinals and that helped us get exactly what we needed in Bosa. The win wasn't pretty, but it was still a win and the worst thing about it was the potential loss of Kwon Alexander for the season. As long as KA's injury isn't too serious then there is really nothing bad that came of a game in which the team struggled and that should serve us well moving forward. I really think we'll be okay because we have Jimmy G and if needed he has the ability to carry the team like I haven't seen from a 49ers quarterback in 20 years. The idea is to make certain that he doesn't always have to, just that he can if we needed him to. Good win in that regard.

I think they stomp the Cardinals in two weeks. Arizona gave them their best shot and the 49ers still came out on top. In two weeks they won't have the element of surprise anymore and the Cardinals won't be as willing to sellout to stop the run. Richard Sherman was pissed off on the field and sounded pissed off after the game so they definitely are going to take the rematch personally.

We'll also hopefully have at least a few of our injured starters back.

Not so sure about that. They are a young and up and coming team. I think we're going to witness some epic shootouts between these two over the next few years. I think Kyler Murray is legit. Kingsbury has them playing very well. Give him another draft and he will have himself a real team out there in the desert.

There are going to be years where AZ has our number.

Just not this year.
