I was at the game too—if it makes you feel any better I was in a section with mostly Niners fans...the cards fans sitting right in front of me spent most of the game with his fingers in his ears because of how loud we were (and he was butthurt his team was losing. He actually left before the game ended)

Amazing. Last yr any pass over the middle was a guaranteed completion. This yr Kwon just shut that down. We don't have a "Like" guy like Kwon on the team. I'm already saying the beads. Without Au jus we got good FB play from Dwelley (rd 6 or was it 7 ..or FA?). But for Kwon we got nobody like that on the team. Just hope...and pray... there is no tear.
The injuries were the scariest thing last night. I'm glad we have some extra days off.
I'm still chewing on Jimmy's 12 of 14 conversions on 3rd down, an 86% conversion rate...which is ridiculous. And at least one, maybe two of those went to #85 who had both passes and the DB stripped him at the moment of catch. Kittle does not drop passes nor does he let go of the ball. Whoever that kid was, he was all over the field, trying to swipe balls or deflecting a pass. Forgot his name but he was spectacular.

Better still was JG's 4 TDs, and 12 of 14 on 3rd down....especially the last one where he needed to run out of the pocket , instinctively know where the LOS was , find Dwelley, and zip one to him. Dwelley for his part saved our bacon by making a nice move to get past the yard marker. And Dwelley was a 6th or 7th rd or was he UDFA?

Couldn't figure out what kyle was doing with yet another TE, but now? Pretty easy to see. Those RB/TE/WR types are basically ESSENTIAL in Kyle's O.

But so is Jimmy's 12 of 14. Gadzooks. But as they say, "Yeah, he's just a game manager." Until we need him, that is.

When your qb is that short, you need to talk more s**t to compensate

Yeah, I would say that the Cards fans at Levis last year were the third worst after the Giants and Bears fans. Constantly goading and provoking Niner fans during the game.

I think that ability to convert is a factor in Kyle sticking with the running game on early downs even when it isn't working. Yeah, he wants to keep the defense honest, but he also doesn't care about getting behind the sticks. Down and distance? Don't worry about it, Jimmy will convert.

There are Cards fans at Levis? s**t they can't even fill up their own stadium. The crowd was like 50-60% 49ers fans last night.

Finally got to see Murray for a full game and I think he's going to be a problem for years. So elusive and knows how to avoid a hit when running with the ball.

Lots of great commentary and insight in here (as usual) with folks saying many of the same things I have been thinking. Chalk this game up to it being a Thursday night game and the reality that Arizona is not as bad as they were last year. Murray was the right pick for the Cardinals and that helped us get exactly what we needed in Bosa. The win wasn't pretty, but it was still a win and the worst thing about it was the potential loss of Kwon Alexander for the season. As long as KA's injury isn't too serious then there is really nothing bad that came of a game in which the team struggled and that should serve us well moving forward. I really think we'll be okay because we have Jimmy G and if needed he has the ability to carry the team like I haven't seen from a 49ers quarterback in 20 years. The idea is to make certain that he doesn't always have to, just that he can if we needed him to. Good win in that regard.

I think they stomp the Cardinals in two weeks. Arizona gave them their best shot and the 49ers still came out on top. In two weeks they won't have the element of surprise anymore and the Cardinals won't be as willing to sellout to stop the run. Richard Sherman was pissed off on the field and sounded pissed off after the game so they definitely are going to take the rematch personally.

49ers were on a short week and facing a division rival, that's tough for any team. So many were expecting a blowout, I just had a hard time seeing one which is why I made no predictions on that game.

I think people are understandably overreacting to the tough showing by the defense.

But look at the Patriots. They actually played their Thursday game at HOME. They also faced the Giants completely without any of their top playmakers. It was so bad the New York media was making headlines asking Belichick for mercy heading into that game.

No Barkley, no Gallman, no Engram, no Shepard.

And yet they scored 14 points on the Pats(one was ST TD but still, they gave up a huge TD play to Golden Tate)

That was tied for the most points they gave up all year.

Playing on Thursday, especially as a road team is always a struggle. Like I said before I don't think it's a coincidence that Drake who had a ton of rest had a big game.

It was interesting watching the Bosa interview. Since it is such a short week the players need to rest their bodies so there are no full speed practices, which I completely understand. At least in the short week vs. the Rams we had at least one full speed practice because it wasn't as short as this week. Deebo said in his interview regarding his TD run that it didn't work in the first day of practice, so my thinking is, this week being as short as it is, Shanny won't be able to add any new wrinkles since there is no time to practice them full speed, so he will be more confined to plays from the previous weeks.

Not that we will lose this game, I think we are too deep in talent especially on the defensive front seven. But the game may end up being fairly close since Shanny won't fully be able to work his magic.

I mean, the Cards are in the same predicament as us on a short week. besides the travel.

If Shanny has time to insert his wrinkles and game plan in practice, I don't think there is anyone better in the NFL outside of Belichick. Thursday games will likely always be scary due to the limited preparation time which we saw last night. When the Cards come to Levis in a few weeks I think the game is a different story. I suspect, assuming we are relatively healthy, that we will blow them out.

Not ton, but the few that were there were determined to get under everyone's skin.
Niners are now 5-0 on the road
Can't find the post now, but someone made the comment about being screwed if we lose Kwon for an extended period. While I wouldn't say 'screwed' I tend to agree with the premise as to what he means to the defense. He didn't look like himself from early on in the game, and I do believe his health was a big reason to our step backwards last night. He and Fred are fast, smart, and aggressive play-makers. That speed, game-savvy knowledge, and leadership is key to making this tweaked system work.

I would argue that the three guys who this team can't afford to lose are: Kittle, Jimmy, and Kwon.

Hear me out: I know Bosa has meant a player so far, but if he is out we still get pressure on the edge from Ford. We are also deep in talent on the D-line so when substitutions are made the drop off isn't all that significant. We have depth there. On the offensive side of the ball Shanny seems to be able to scheme away many significant injuries, so the drop-off after losing Staley, McGlinchey, and Jus was no-where near as bad as feared. Kittle draws double teams and may be the best blocking TE in the league so he is insanely important. Jimmy is huge on third downs and having the 2nd fastest release time in the league after Brady helps negate the pass rush while having to deal with our top three tackles hurt.

A healthy Kwon is key.

Let's take another moment to lol at KK for calling a timeout and allowing the 49ers to have another crack at 4th and goal at the end of the half. lol
