Do we have the worst WR depth in the league?

Nobody is signing Brown. If anyone was, they would have already.

I actually think our depth is good, but we were down 5-6 receivers last night.

In fact we may have the best depth in the league at the position: Taylor, Hurd, Sanders, Goodwin, have all missed time this season. So we are playing and winning with Pettis, James, Deebo, TE's, and RB's.

Meanwhile the Browns have OBJ & Landry, and what has that gotten them? 3-6 record?

taylor has done s**t for two years. hurd is a total unknown. sanders is hurt. goodwin petties and bourne . esp goodwin and pettis were garbage last night when thrust into the spot light. the best depth in the nfl.. that is stunning . perfect example of overvaluing "our guys"

Agreed.

This thread is about WR depth, not our team's record.

This guy looked so explosive in Kyle's offense year one but he has just disappeared since. I know he's had a rough ride of personal issues and some injuries but now when hes out there and healthy, you don't even notice him unless he drops the ball.

It was amazing how different this offense looked once Sanders exited. I can look past a guy like deebo who is still a rookie and made some big plays last night but the others that have been here 2-3 years was inexcusable in how they played. Waaaaay too many crucial drops.

LMFAO @ this thread.

THEY'RE INJURED. The fact that they ARE DEEP is why we haven't had to sign any off the street scrubs!

Sanders is the only name that has done jack s**t for the past two years. Hurd is a rookie that hasn't played a game, Goodwin had 1 good season two years ago, Taylor is never on the field. Comments like this further show how we've become accustomed to weak, mediocrity from the WR position for too long now - constantly overvaluing our mediocre at best WRs just because they're our guys and shrugging off real talent that could actually help.

All that matters is the playoffs and if we don't go far, it'll be in large part to terrible WRs.

Who's injured? Just Sanders from last night...

Learning this playbook is complicated. Thus I don't think Dez and Crabtree are serious options. AB, he might talented enough to be effective without learning the whole playbook, but he is bad for the locker room, and he might be suspended the moment we sign him.

The one serious candidate I have is Pierre Garçon. He is nothing special at this age, but he is going to be more reliable than any our our receivers other than Sanders.

the heck with the playbook and so called chemistry. dez can catch the damn ball which is something we do not have now with no sanders . the hell with the so called chemistry. we have been lectured to by homers that oh goodwin has great chemistry with jimmy. how is that working ut

Agree. Learning the playbook is a completely different thing than learning to catch. Chemistry is also overrated at times, Sanders killed that excuse. I was one that defended Goodwin, I won't anymore. He just isn't the same and doesn't seem focused for whatever reasons. We need a complete overhaul and I would completely get it if we did go after others like Dez, especially if we lose Sanders
...should we kick the tires on Dez? what do we have to lose?

Nothing to laugh at here. Our coaching staff knew what we were dealing with and should have made a move to pick up two veteran receivers before the trade deadline.

Fact of the matter is half of our receivers are pure finesse guys in Goodwin/Pettis and Bourne. Come play off time when it's time to put your big boy pants on, these guys won't deliver on a regular basis. The fact that we didn't make adjustments will come back to bite us.
This game showed me we have a VERY low floor on offense.

Everyone carves up the Seahawks, except us.

Our identity is the running game. If we can't get the running game going, then we are screwed.
How many teams have depth at receiver? Most have 1 or 2 that are good and after that the talent drops off. Look at NE. they have one guy that's any good and a rookie coming off the IR. Seattle has Metcalf and Lockett plus Gordon who is one failed drug test from a league ban. It's that way with nearly every team and there is a reason for it. Wide receivers tend to be moody and they all think they should get more targets so if they are 3,4 or 5 on the depth chart they opt out and get signed by some other team that's hungry for a receiver. Look at all the troubled receivers over the last few years and how often teams were eager to sign them even when they were known to be a risk. Every team needs receivers, whether it's a number one or a depth player.

And we are still 8-1...

and we saw what happens when we run up against a legit good team

Injured:
Kittle
Sanders
DJ Jones
Gould

First Game Back from Injuries:
Staley
McGlinchy (sp)
Juice

We lost by 3 points in OT, after missing the game winning FG.

Seattle caught us at the right time injury wise...

They always do...
and they always seem to add to our injury list after we play them, and its not because they are dirty
No depth really. It's sad. I think the drafting of WR's so far has been bad. Deebo is the lone exception so far.

Got a 2nd rounder in Pettis who seems to play soft more often than he does aggressive. Such a shame. His body language last night killed me.

Goodwin...not sure what his deal is but he cannot catch. Pretty sure he got benched last night after that brutal drop. He was on the sideline with his helmet on so I doubt he was hurt.

Deebo seems like the only one out there trying to ball out. I love his effort and he will only get better.

Sanders is solid but hopefully he's not too hurt.

Bourne: fk he had a really brutal night. But he has had some key catches for us this year so it's hard to hate on him. He just had a brutal game.

Taylor cannot stay healthy so he's not really reliable.
I'm going to put Hurd in that boat. Was banged up a lot in college and seems to be following suit.

is pettis healthy., is goodwin healthy? they both played. did they contribute. did they do something that proves their value on the team,. did they have a great chance after sanders went out. what did they do when healthy last night? was it interesting? was it game worthy?
