Pretty intense reaction to the 1st loss of the season...
Reality check: Seattle has been better than us for many years. As of Monday night, they still are. Their best players (Wagner, Wilson) are still better than our best players. Their steroid program: Better :). Their coaches: arguably better. Their stadium and owner: better
At least it's a rivalry again...or it is so far (let's see how we do up there later in the season...)
I still can't believe we are 8-1.

I'm more mad now than I was after the loss. We shoulda won and now we're another contributor to Seattle's luck. All we needed to do was make one more play. I hope the players and coaches are pissed off and take it out on Arizona.

Not at all. Niners are way better with just emmanual sanders and if you throw in kittle....game over. Maybe the Seahawks are better than our team with a bunch of backups....maybe

Look what it took to beat the Niners
Sanders injured
Kittle injured
Breida injured
Gould injured the rookie kickers shank was probably one of the worst I've seen
Richburg injured and right away the backup gives up a strip sack td
7-9 dropped passes (depends who you ask) one of which was almost a pick 6.
Horrible spot by the refs which would of given us an easier fg kick or even extended the possible td drive.
We are still the best team in the nfl not at full strength. Healthy....game over

I 100% agree. But are we ever going to be healthy on offense again? That remains to be seen. Because one thing we know, we can't rely on Shanny to tell us the truth about health of players. I know he does it for a perceived advantage, but none the less who knows what's up.Originally posted by elguapo:Originally posted by Antix:I'm more mad now than I was after the loss. I thought team got way over hyped and 8-0 cocky.

So im not an expert ... 49ers lost 2 of the 3 phases of the Game. The only one they won was on the defensive side. They could have compensated that with Shanny winning the HC Battle but he went on Full on Atlanta Superbowl Mode.

Yes and no.
Even if you include all the factors you mentioned, we still could have at least tied if not won the game. Let me just make a statement and see whether you will agree with it or not:
It is literally impossible to lose a game with 1:50 left and a fresh set of downs when the game is tied.
Do we have a better team than the Seahawks when healthy? This is how I will answer the question, arguably yes, but if you include Kyle Shanahan in this case then no (just within the context of this game at least).
If I were to ask you to call the plays with the above scenario, would you have given the ball back to Russell Wilson with 1:25 left??? What if it was a must-win scenario? What if this was the NFC Championship game? Let's be honest here, Kyle Shanahan lost us this game.
No doubt, Kyle Shanahan is an offensive genius, but he has shown he can succumb to pressure. On the night, you could see panic set in just by looking at his face. The moment can become too big for him. Obviously, his most infamous and biggest blunder was the Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl meltdown. Well, in this game, he did the same. He totally lost track of the in-game situation and failed to observe the bigger picture of what a loss might do to the 49ers.
But, if Kyle Shanahan can further mature and develop a callous if you will for high pressure situations to facilitate him to make better and proper strategic decisions, then yes I would agree we could well be the best team.

Well clearly it isn't "literally impossible" to lose a game with 1:50 since it obviously happened and has probably happened many, many times over the course of NFL history. You really need to calm down and shelve the hyperbole. It was a tough loss and there is enough blame to go around for everyone. The loss isn't just on Shanahan, or the kicker, or Jimmy G., or Bourne, or Pettis, Samuel, or the offensive line or whoever else people feel they need to scapegoat, they all had a hand in it. Hopefully we will go into Seattle at the end of the season with a healthy roster and something to play for and we'll their kick ass. Now wouldn't that be sweet.

But we are not healthy or full strength. As the season goes on our health has gone down hill and it continues. Injuries count in the NFL and it has effected us. Nobody knows when we will be fully healthy again or if we will. Injuries can implode a season. So who knows how this will all work out?

I agree with this. The loss, especially to the Toots, should be a major motivating factor for not only the players but the coaches. Kyle was out schemed by Pete and Norton. The cover 2 zone defense shut down most of our run game and stretched our passing game. Kyle had no answer for it. He will have next time we meet them but also needs a few more tricks because the Toots might do something novel next time.
This loss, to be a positive, must be used as a motivator to make everyone, coaches and players step up.

Great set-up man for the spike.
That pass, rihocheting off those white gloves....was the reason i would like to see Bourne, pettis et al try a game without gloves. That pass literally bounced off those gloves. I would say hands but ball was gone so fast i'm Not sure Bourne even knew it was there. Guys that are having trouble hanging onto the ball i would love to see take off the dang gloves.
