huh, he completed key passes to bourne that would have changed the game...even when boune singled handedly volleyed the game away, JG drove the field multiple times in clutch situations to give the team a chance to win.

wilson threw a pick while in FG range in OT... JG drove down for the win...what game were you watching?

-Seattle NEEDED another missed FG to win a game.
-IF we had both Kittle/Sanders/Gould this game wouldn't have been close.
-We have a championship caliber defense, I don't think we let a single TD happen that wasn't off the result of a turnover.

That's all I got

Very good.

Still, Neither one of the starting Tackles should have been in the game.
Meh we win easily if Brunskilled and skule were in the game.

Have to blaim Shanny for that one.

Or they also get abused by Clowney who had the game of his life. Notice how Ansah was a ghost.
People keep complaining about the running game. No running game can succeed when the other team is absolutely selling out against the run. The running game will be great again when the passing game wakes up.

Jimmy: It all goes back to his knee. He stays in the pocket and doesn't scramble because he doesn't want to run and get reinjured. He wants to do it all with his arm, and has programmed himself not to run when he should. So he takes sacks and throws into nowhere. Compound this with o-line struggles and lack of competent receivers and show me a quarterback who can succeed under those conditions. Look at Russel's stats last night. Equivalent to Jimmy's. If Jimmy had half the running yards we would win this game even without Kittle, Sanders, Richburg and a healthy o-line.

Yeah, there were some game situations where Jimmy should have preplanned to run for 4 yards and slide. Just have to do it to force the LBs to be in a little limbo. Right now, Jimmy isn't at the stage of a QB that is making decisions to control a game.

I blame Shanahan, the Oline and the receivers, in that order.
Someone in the forum noted that our receivers had 9 drops. Sure losing Kittle and Sanders has huge but receivers like Borne and Pettis are not rookies. Sadly they are both soft and can't be relied upon to make the physical plays. Would have been nice to get a Hurd type of physical receiver as a back up. Must admit I had "Metcalf Envy" last night and now fear that we've been exposed as a pure finesse team.

And that's all you need to say. With all those drops and injuries to arguably a top-five play maker on offense in George Kittle, and Sanders would of easily been enough for the win. It's just funny how lucky Seattle gets against us, but Seattle is always this lucky.

-Russ Wilson: we make that kick, we're talking about how RW actually choked that game away...he had two costly turnovers in the 4th and in OT.

-One Loss: this isn't as big because we won 8 straight. Could mean something down the road but...

-we need to move on: Gotta have that "on to Cincinnati" mindset. Let's take care of business with AZ

-Health: this is what's important. If we are healthy at the end of the season, I believe we can go real deep in the playoffs even if we start from a WildCard position.

Let's not overreact...it's one loss, our only one at the moment. The only thing telling of this game is that, we aren't the same team without our key players...no team is. And our Defense doesn't give up...the DK Metcalf right before halftime was an example.

OP said it was an "utterly embarrassing" night for us. I strongly disagree. That game could've been, but we
battled all night....nothing embarrassing about that at all.

Bang Bang NinerGang!

Is E-40 making a "theme song" for us a jinx? Look what he did to the Warriors!

* Nine drops combined between Bourne, Deebo, Goodwin, Pettis, and Juice. I found that utterly embarrassing.

* Staley and McGlinchey both got run over and/or walked back into the pocket with ease, among every other way to get beat. I found that utterly embarrassing.

* Garoppolo was sacked 5 times, threw 1 INT called back on penatly and two other near INTs in crunch time. Could also argue the throw Bourne should've caught was not a good pass either. He threw multiple passes off target either too far out in front, in the dirt, or way over their heads all night. He also tried to do too much and got strip sacked twice, including giving up a scoop and score. I find all of that to be utterly embarrassing.

* Breida led the team with 10 carries on the night, and had a putrid 1.8 yds/carry average. I found that utterly embarrassing.

* Shanahan was content to let the clock run out at the half, despite having a timeout and the ball at the 25 with plenty of time to drive for a FG, and knowing the Hawks would get it in the 2nd half. When the Hawks called a timeout, we decided to kneel it down and pack it in like pansies, which sucked the air out of the stadium it felt. Fans booed as we walked off the field, and we made it look like we were scared and weak. He later went for it on 4th and 2.5 yards instead of kicking a FG that the guy clearly had the leg for. Third, instead of managing the clock properly late in OT, Shanahan dialed up three consecutive passes that instead of it being a "either we win or no one does" situation, it flipped it and gave Seattle that opportunity instead. I find all that utterly embarrassing.

Our defense played a heck of a game, but outside of that, it was an embarrassing effort offensively and coaching-wise. I feel like all of the above evidence supports that notion.

Those are all unfortunate events and happen all the time around the league..the other team consists of professionals as well. This isn't Alabama vs UC Davis.
What would be utterly embarrassing about it is if we were blown out OR if we were 0-8 coming into the game and this happened.

And even despite all this, we as a team, still could've won it.

2-14 is embarrassing, throwing 3 consecutive INTs and one for a pick 6 is embarrassing.
Hiring my Plumber as the new 49ers head coach and him giving a horrendous press conference and farting during a conference is utterly embarrassing!

If this is utterly embarrassing to you...what the heck is your expectations!?

I know right? For all intents and purposes Russell Wilson lost the game for them with a horrible red zone interception. It's funny people aren't talking about that more but like I've always said against good defenses Russell Wilson is not good.

Finesse is a good word for this offense. Kittle is really the only tough guy on the offense side

Teams do not drop 9 passes on a weekly basis, my man. Teams do not frequently give up 5+ sacks and countless hits to one of the worst pass-rushing teams in the NFL. Good teams do not play "not to lose". I'd say the majority of coaches don't go for it on 4th and 2 when you're in FG range and it's unnecessary to be getting greedy. Our team this year is not embarrassing, but it's my opinion that the performance of the above units was at that level on Monday.

Will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Jimmy almost threw 3 picks on the last drive alone
So, I too was furious. Went to bed so pissed off and woke up pissed off. I agree with much of what's being said but I think a little harsh on some points. For me:

BAD:
1. We were ready to play and we were the better team. I truly believe that. We GAVE them that game. That's why I'm pissed, just gave it to them.
2. Staley and McGlinchey. Both trash and not just last night.
3. No spy on Russell???? That's like football 101, always spy the running qb.
4. WR drops. I wanna punch Bourne
5. Where were the innovative Shanahan plays? Very very vanilla
6. Only 1 deep ball?? Why not use Goodwin's speed once in while even if he is a one trick pony.
7. Why is our team always cursed with injuries?

Not necessarily bad imho:
1. Kicker- what are ya gonna do? He was on the street a few days ago. Pisses me off more that Gould is hurt. Freakin kicker, how do you get hurt?
2. Jimmy- Most will disagree with me but I like his throws and thought he was mostly accurate with his receiver letting him down. Cant expect any qb to be perfect. Idk, I just see him differently and I still like him. Very quick release btw. The fumbles are on him tho. Take those away and we maybe win in regulation.
3. We went to the wire with in my opinion a top 5 NFL team this year EVEN with all of our miscues.

Also, someone tell me why Mostert doesn't play more? Dude's always chunking 7 and 8 yard runs.

Basically, We played almost as bad as you can possibly play and still almost beat a top 5 team.
