SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs BALTIMORE RAVENS - Week 13 PREGAME

This Baltimore team is scary. I see a path to victory but it's not hard to see where this game could go horribly wrong.
Geez, Louise. What a beatdown. Jackson completed 15 passes and 5 of them were for touchdowns. 49ers are definitely going to have their hands full with this Baltimore team. It is really going to require playing almost mistake free ball and hoping that the defense can find a way to limit Baltimore's opportunities. There is also the question of all of the injuries the team has been dealing with, Staley, Alexander, Moore, Breida, Kittle, Sanders, Samuel, Ford, Jones, it seems like it just goes on and on and now we are down to our practice squad defensive end. If they can pull this one out they will have definitely earned it. Go Niners!!

Also from patfanken:

a. In its base form you'd have 3 backs in the backfield, 2 TE's. With a direct snap to a QB who was both the primary runner and passer. With all kinds of backfield movement and counter off it, you generally could create numbers advantages to one side or another. You could also run options off of it, and almost EVERY pass comes off a play action pass. The Ravens do the same thing only using a TE and RB, and sometimes 2 TE to go along with Jackson in the backfield.

b. I recall that we determined that looking into the backfield was a fools errand, though reading the line proved to be a solid key. So that would be my first thing. Break down what they are doing and come up with some line keys that give the LB's their first direction.

Yep beating any misdirection and option attack is all about discipline and not playing hero ball. It's crazy how team just a team go into playing the ravens like they dont have any film on what they are doing. Hopefully saleh will have them prepared
Regardless of what happens this Sunday, I'd be willing to bet belicheck and his coaching staff figure out the ravens by the time they play them again. The patriots might not beat them but the blueprint will be set for the niners to beat the ravens in the super bowl.

Our defense gonna set the blueprint to beat the crows
It's quite obvious the Rams just quit. Jackson threw 5 Td passes that I couldve thrown. Nobody was within 5 yards of any of those receivers.

This has more of a 13-10 feel to it with the bad weather and all.
I know the Niners are good enough to beat the Ravens, but away game and early start is a tall task against the best AFC team.

If they happen to lose, Niners need to win out including at Seattle to win the division.

Could still win it if they drop 2 I think, but it gets a lot harder unless Seattle loses one along the way (go Panthers!).

Yeah, this is probably the score without the rain.
Every time they do the read option Lamar needs to be pummeled.
Still not afraid of him passing it. If he can get it to his guys, so be it. I trust our guys on islands, just don't want to see him gash us with his legs. I still don't think Lamar throws it that well, some people compare it to Kap.

I agree insofar as the arm strength is there but you don't see much touch and the mechanics are a bit wonky so I don't think he's a great thrower while on the move. However, his lateral movement is so much better and he can escape the pocket much more easily than Kap who was a great straight line runner but not nearly as agile. If he starts moving back there our defenders have to sell out that he's running it.

Don't know how you approach this without having the cb's one on one and have at least 1 safety up close for spying/run support. The Rams looked like they either didn't do any film study or have given up. Maybe no faith in Goff??? If our line plays as ferocious as they did against GB I think we'll have a shot. Come on rain!!
How many times has the edge defender gone after the RB in the zone scheme? Why does nobody just go for the QB and blow his ass up? He's a sitting duck while deciding to handoff or keep. And if I remember correctly the NFL has said the QB is essentially a RB in the zone read; blow Lamar up... land on him. Let's see how long they run that.

Also Lamar is no Russell Wilson or Kyler Murray. He's either a pocket passer or a RB, he doesn't run around and buy time to throw. They roll him out some times, but there aren't any unscripted plays or scramble drills.
Belief! Bring them on. This 49ers is the most underrated 10-1 team ever. Totally unbelievable. Looking forward to the duel and I am expecting us to surprised many out there just like we surprised them with the beat down of mighty Packers. We are a heck of a football team ... Go Niners!

I would be tempted to use a tactic that we used against Manning once that worked. Our dline stood up presnap and started switching all over the place in a standing position. Totally confused Manning for like a half.
