That's the way they want to play but we have to alter our defense by loading up front and making him beat us on the outside and downfield with his WRs. If we do this I bet we can score more points than they do

You do understand that "loading up front" will make you vulnerable to the RPO right? This counter scheme to a loaded box will put stress on the defense to play hat on a hat. And if that edge defender picks the wrong person (Ingram or Lamar?), it's going to be an explosive play for the Ravens.

Did you even watch last night's game? Rams loaded the box and got absolutely gashed.

Teams shut us down with Kap after they figured that out and even though LJ is a much better passer I think he will struggle if he can't run.

Exactly. We have seen this show before. We know it intimately

There is a psychological letdown when you have a big game like last night on national TV, where everyone will be singing your praises all week. The problem is we also fall into a similar category. I see this game as a 35% chance of winning.

We struggled with mobile QBs and Lamar is playing better than Wilson or Murray. The good news is we've faced that style of QB 3 of the past 4 weeks.

Hopefully Ford will be able to go. We're going to need all hands on deck on the d-line.

We had an extra night to get over the newspaper clippings and then get humbled again watching ravens last night. Our mentality will be fine. We are playing playoff games weekly in our minds as stated by coaches and playera

Right. I'm hoping the effect is more negative for them.
It's a lot harder to tackle Wilson and Murray than LJ. Its easier to shoot a hyena than a squirrel or a mouse.
Here's the other elite defense trying to stop the Ravens. And in it you'll find the "loading the box" myth buster, with Greg Roman out scheming Bill Bellicheck.

Solve the problem the way they do in West Baltimore. Shoot him.

Just to be clear though, it's very apparent the LJ is a much better QB than the previous group that is in the mold of the run option, I wouldn't classify him as a running QB because he's making great reads and great passes, I just think if you take away that running aspect that keeps defenses off balance, it gives you a better chance to slow him down.

I'm planning on diving into Ravens Film later on Thanksgiving(we live in Bama and all our family lives in OR and WA so it's a short, small family thanksgiving for us) and am going to be investigating this supposed Ravens offense. I still remember a lot of the stuff Roman did here so I'm interested to see what's different.

Not much from what I've seen. Just more speed at RB and WR

Seems like they use way more TE's. Obviously a lot more QB runs. Lamar is so much faster and agile than Kap was. I can't wait to hear what you find JD. You nailed the film analysis on the Packers last week. Their LB's gotten eaten up on the run action. I think Jimmy was like 7-7 for 160 yards and a TD off of play action

Yeah and, not to toot my own horn, the GB interior O-line struggled getting to the 2nd level in the run game.

It'll be interesting to see how we match up. The Pats have, without a doubt IMO the best secondary in football but don't have the font that we have. I like NE's LB's a little more than ours, just in terms of physicality. But, the Pats gets coverage sacks and struggle against the run. We can cover on the backend very well and then eat up vs pass blocking. I think we are ranked middle of the pack against the run simply because everyone is afraid to pass against us downfield consistently. They've seen what happened to the Bucs, Browns, Rams and Panthers. All those teams tried to stretch the field vertically against us and got demolished.

I saw it. I saw the intensity the Ravens had and what the Rams didn't. That's not us. Your front seven plus 1. You don't hover them around the line of scrimmage like NYG did Alex Smith but you do commit with eight guys to stop RPO. You have to mix coverages of course. If you don't there's going to be a couple hundred yards in the ground game put on us. If we don't force them to beat us with their WRs it's going to be an uphill battle for us. We will have to win a shootout but we want to erase that ground game at all cost and it won't be sexy but it must be done. We ain't gonna be winning any style points in this one

They have a short week knowing they're the bees knees but here we come with a road warrior mentality to boot looking to silence the haters

I'm glad I'm not a coach that has to figure this out but I know that if we don't commit to erase that ground game and make Jackson beat us with his WRs we will be hard pressed to win. We will have to commit more guys than usual to suppress that ground game because the QB and the HB are imposing threats in the ground game. We can't play them like we play the pack and think we'll get what we want
It's nearly impossible to really shut down an offense like this when they're on a roll but if you can pressure Jackson enough to throw off his timing and take away his reads then you have a good chance. I know it's not easy but a defense like ours that has multiple disruptors has a better chance than most. He can't just look at one guy since the heat can come from any direction.
