I'm glad I'm not a coach that has to figure this out but I know that if we don't commit to erase that ground game and make Jackson beat us with his WRs we will be hard pressed to win. We will have to commit more guys than usual to suppress that ground game because the QB and the HB are imposing threats in the ground game. We can't play them like we play the pack and think we'll get what we want

Exactly! Now we're on the same page.

One thing we do have going for us is an offense that can sustain drives. Imo, this is super crucial to stopping the Ravens. win the TOP, and keep them on the sidelines.

Right. I'm hoping the effect is more negative for them.

They have a short week knowing they're the bees knees but here we come with a road warrior mentality to boot looking to silence the haters

Ball control and run like 3-safety spy defense

You must be as old as I am. I doubt anyone on the Ravens has ever heard the expression 'bees knees'.

It's nearly impossible to really shut down an offense like this when they're on a roll but if you can pressure Jackson enough to throw off his timing and take away his reads then you have a good chance. I know it's not easy but a defense like ours that has multiple disruptors has a better chance than most. He can't just look at one guy since the heat can come from any direction.
This will be a shootout. We just can't let it be the ground game and the middle of the field be where we're beat in the passing game. Muck this thing up make Jackson throw from that pocket. Punish him if he keeps. Then we know we can punish BAL with our own excellent offense where we can dial up explosive plays on the regular. We have to do the imposing and not allow BAL to be imposing on us. We do that and we can win this inevitable shootout

LOL. Ain't nothing wrong with a grey beard true grit and veteran savvy
Jimmy G will win us this game. He would have won the Seattle game but those drops.
This team is built on controlling the TOP and thus the tempo of the game, plus our defense doesn't give up s**t in the redzone. I like our chances a lot

Easily won with Kittle and Sanders

I'm looking forward to it and you can tell our guys are as well and they're confident the coaches will have cook up a dish on game day almost comparable to what's in their grandmother's kitchen on thxgiving

It's going to be a shootout is my point BUT those other teams didn't have offenses that dictate to the opposing defenses either as we do. If they score which they will though not as consistently we can indeed keep the pressure on and score with explosive plays as well. That's our MO. We don't get to play our brand of offense if we let BAL maul us in the ground game. We have to stack the box defensively and make them beat us passing and then win this shootout. That's what it's going to be if we play the way I want us to. A shootout where we keep BAL well under 125 yds total rushing. If we do that we have a chance to win a high scoring game. If they run for 200 we won't have the ball. We'll get beat up and we'll lose. We gotta erase the run game and sell out to do it

Don't let that game last night influence your thinking about how to stop the Baltimore running game. The Ravens were able to attack the edges of Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense because the edge players the Rams employ are pass rushers who are weak against the run game. Dante Fowler and Clay Matthews wouldn't suit up on game day for the 49ers. They are that bad. Greg Roman knew that and just pounded away at them. Samson Ebukam was their only ED with good run defense ability and he got pounded with lead blockers all night because no one else demanded attention. They double-teamed Donald and won most of the other one-on-one battles. Easy pickings.

Try that same edge running attack on AA and Bosa and get ready to have your butt handed to you. Even if they did get past the DL on occasion, the speed of the 49er LBs will catch them.

Going up the middle is no picnic either. They can double Buckner but Jones has been beasting. If center Matt Skura can't go, that makes inside running much tougher.

We don't have to load the box. Spy Jackson with Warner or Greenlaw and the game will look VERY different than the Rams game.

This game will provide a good example of why Lynch insisted on loading up with high-end DL - it makes everything else much easier.
Looks like weather will play a factor.

They're gonna score.points. No way around it.

I think we should be more concerned about if we will score enough against them. They have a damn good defense too, the best we will have faced to this point. By far. On the road. In an extremely hostile environment. Baltimore has one of the low key best home field advantages there is when they are good. Luckily we have KS but if we make too many mistakes this will be a problem. Can we keep up on offense is what I'm actually more concerned with.

The most points thr Ravens can score at any given time is 7 or 8. Can we do enough on offense to keep pace with that? That's honestly the matchup I'm most excited to see.

We have the best redzone defense in the league. We might give up a big play or two, but it's not going to be easy for them.

And we have Sherman. Think about how he feels about one read QBs and the insight he'll give our young guys. He'll have our guys fired up for this one. We have some brains in the building this year for sure
