Ah how quickly people forget. Long live the legend that was Kaepernick for ~2 years.

Looked like a good passer there! Even better than LJ. People look through their own eyes but sometimes never see.

Every soo often a QB comes around and everyone screams "He cannot be stopped! Defenses have no answer for him!".

Then defenses adjust, and they come back to Earth.

Yep. We lived through that not too long ago. Let us hope we're the team to figure it out. I do believe we have the coaches and players to at least make that possible.

The most important stat in the Ravens/Pats game is TOP.

Ravens almost doubled the Pats.

I don't care if you're defense is the '85 Bears, being on the field that long makes the best look bad!

Bear with me...pun intended

If only there was a defense that was on the field significantly longer than the offense and still dominated the game

Oh wait! Don't look any further than the Sunday night matchup 49ers vs Packers! TOP 35:16 to 24:44 in Packers favor!

Result? 8 points

This defense can handle the Ravens. These glasses are 20/20.

The pats defense is not better than ours. We have the best defense.

I think that's debatable. They've given up fewer points by a wide margin. Almost half of their season total of points given up were given up in one game, the loss to the Ravens.
They also played some of the worst teams in the league.

We will he underdogs the rest of the season. Might as well embrace.

The blueprint is out to stop this offense. It's been out for years. Saleh just has to do some research and put it together.

Our offense will have to win us this game imo

Was Salah a coach on the Seahawks back in the Kap years? He may intimately know how to do it already.

But even looking through rose-colored glasses, it's still difficult to see us winning this game.

dude you say the same pessimistic crap every week. You're the opposite of wearing rose-colored glasses. You act like we don't have a good team, aren't 10-1, don't have the best defense in football, and are on pace to have one of the best pass Ds in NFL history (ONLY allowing 136.9 yards of passing per game!)

You're talking about sitting starters because "they're too physical" which is a damn joke. thank god our players and coaching staff don't think like you. Sounds like you want us to roll over like a scared dog.

Grab your nuts and let's f**king go! This is gonna be a great game win or lose. I expect this team to bring it and be fast and hit hard, like they do every week.

Hell yeah NY!!! Make Jackson pay when he runs on us. It's a good start.

Lol this thread is funny. Some fans see the Ravens rape the Rams and they automatically $#!T their pants. Yes the Ravens are an amazing team, but some of you guys act like the Niners are chopped liver with a losing record. Can't wait for this game, seeing arguably the top two teams go at it.

Nah! Only that Skittle guy. But TBF, he's an scared Seacawk fan pretending to know a thing or two about Niner football.

They were talking about it on Fox radio. Jackson is a "running QB" not a " QB who runs" which I believe is true.

I disagree completely. People get lost in the razzle dazzle of their run game but Lamar is a perfectly capable passer. They aren't passing a lot because they don't have to. When you run for 300 yards, you don't need to pass it a lot but going back to his time at Louisville, Jackson has shown constant improvement as a passer and he's still getting "but he's just an athlete playing QB" treatment when the guy is decisive, has a lightning quick release and can put the ball on a dime down the field. The talking heads have zero credibility when it comes to Jackson considering how many were still derping about him needing to play WR or RB after his junior year in college where he showed massive improvement in passing the ball.

I've watched him pretty extensively and there is zero reason to question him as a passer. When they've needed him to make big throws, he's done so consistently. I think he's already a better passer than either Vick or Kaepernick ever were and he's only getting better.

I think he is more of a running QB simply because of the number of designed runs they have for him in this offense. That doesn't take anything away from his passing which seems like it has been pretty solid so far. To me Russell Wilson is the model of what I would call a mobile QB as opposed to a running QB.. He is very efficient when he decides to tuck the ball and run but he is ALWAYS looking to pass first and though Seattle seems to have a few designed running plays for him they are not nearly as prevalent as what Jackson has in Baltimore. Plus Wilson is always looking to get down and avoid a hit while Jackson seems willing to put his head down and try and barrel through. We'll see how long that attitude lasts. He is like Cam Newton in that regard except that he is probably a better passer than Newton.

Regardless of how his game is defined he is going to be a handful to deal with. Someone above mentioned that he thought Jones could be a pivotal piece of the puzzle as far as stopping Jackson and I don't disagree with that. The last game he played in he was just blowing up the middle of the line. If he can do that against Baltimore and the ends can maintain their discipline on the edge that will be a big boost in terms of slowing that guy down.

Patriots have a better secondary. Linebackers are up in the air IMO. Their linebackers are bigger and have a lot more experience and I'd say are more versatile but ours are faster.

The issue with the Ravens is right now they're clicking at a level where we were in 2012. Everyone pretty much knew what we were going to do but nobody could do a thing to stop us. Ravens want to run the ball, everyone knows they want to run the ball...and they're still gashing teams in the run.

Rams were 4th in the league in rushing yards allowed. Yesterday they gave up nearly double their yearly high in a game.

Honestly it's crazy right now. I think the only thing that really stops them are key injuries or bad weather conditions. I hope our guys find a way to get it done but it's going to be tough as hell.

A part of me thinks that we should just play contain on the DL. Try to squeeze the pocket but not actually attempt to bring Lamar down until we know it's a pass, hope that our secondary holds up. Lamar has proven that he can beat teams through the air so it won't be easy, as someone said it's not a Tim Tebow situation.

But when you put the ball in the air things can happen - bad throws, drops. If we allow them to run the way they did vs the last few teams and we don't have a chance unless the offense scores TDs on each of their drives(if that happens I'd certainly be cool with it)
The thing that is so encouraging about this 49ers team is that they are young and feisty. Reminds me of the 1981 team with the rookie DBs. This team will fight. Can't guarantee a win on Sunday, but I think this 49ers team is going to want to make a statement, just as they did in their other showcase games. They are not going to lie down like the Lambs did last night.
This is definitely a playoff atmosphere feel. Hope the Niners pull out the W because that would make a huge statement to everyone else in the league. BAL run game is legit even without Lamar taking off. They do scheme well which allows Lamar to decide to run which is entirely different from his rookie season. Dude was just taking off when he felt the slightest pressure.

I think the Niners should try to shutdown the run and have Lamar try and beat us in the air. Now their defense is playing lights out as well so Jimmy and company have a tuff game ahead.

It's going to be a shootout is my point BUT those other teams didn't have offenses that dictate to the opposing defenses either as we do. If they score which they will though not as consistently we can indeed keep the pressure on and score with explosive plays as well. That's our MO. We don't get to play our brand of offense if we let BAL maul us in the ground game. We have to stack the box defensively and make them beat us passing and then win this shootout. That's what it's going to be if we play the way I want us to. A shootout where we keep BAL well under 125 yds total rushing. If we do that we have a chance to win a high scoring game. If they run for 200 we won't have the ball. We'll get beat up and we'll lose. We gotta erase the run game and sell out to do it

Don't let that game last night influence your thinking about how to stop the Baltimore running game. The Ravens were able to attack the edges of Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense because the edge players the Rams employ are pass rushers who are weak against the run game. Dante Fowler and Clay Matthews wouldn't suit up on game day for the 49ers. They are that bad. Greg Roman knew that and just pounded away at them. Samson Ebukam was their only ED with good run defense ability and he got pounded with lead blockers all night because no one else demanded attention. They double-teamed Donald and won most of the other one-on-one battles. Easy pickings.

Try that same edge running attack on AA and Bosa and get ready to have your butt handed to you. Even if they did get past the DL on occasion, the speed of the 49er LBs will catch them.

Going up the middle is no picnic either. They can double Buckner but Jones has been beasting. If center Matt Skura can't go, that makes inside running much tougher.

We don't have to load the box. Spy Jackson with Warner or Greenlaw and the game will look VERY different than the Rams game.

This game will provide a good example of why Lynch insisted on loading up with high-end DL - it makes everything else much easier.

Pats offense is just not that good. They're in the bottom of the league in converting 3rd downs and don't put up a lot of points.

The best way to slow down the ravens offense is to keep them on the bench.
