with a better qb in jackson

So I guess we're going to get an answer to the question behind this thread

https://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/niners/192906-harbaughs-2011-49ers-versus-shanahans-2019-49ershypotheticalwho-would

Except it's the 2013 Niners :)

I would tend to agree. Both teams also ran/run a 3-4 defense right? Both have rangy hard hitting safety's. There are a few differences in strengths and weaknesses, but I really wonder if John Harbaugh wasn't influenced a bit by his brother in the construction of the current team.

They worked in with the heat cranked up to get use to the humidity in Tampa...maybe they'll practice on a wet, slippery field this time

They'll bring in Erin Andrews to help get the field wet.

Honestly, I think KS & Salah saved the hitting the QB on every RPO play gameplan for this specific game. They didn't wanna give away anything the last couple of weeks that would show the Ravens that we know how to defend this kind of offense so they could gameplan accordingly. Expect our DEs to put a lick on LJ on every RPO play.

Do to them what they did to us in years past

Yezzir!!

Only earlier on in the season. Since then, they have improved substantially. Did you watch the Texans and Rams games?
Go 49ers
We should win this game. There receivers dont scare me as against our secondary. Mark Ingram is a good back but I expect him to be neutralized. Kyle will scheme some good plays against there defense and put up some points. The only thing I'm worried about is Lamar Jackson and how our defense plays against mobile QBs. I expect our ends to play a lot of contain.

...and more...

Both Harbaughs had massive O-lines
Both had one speedster WR (Hollywood and Ginn)

RB Alex Collins crashed his Vette and was arrested for possession of lots of weed and a gun. Aldon Smith was....eh never-mind.

but not that good of a defense.

3rd in Run D (9ers are 19th).

I think he meant overall defense. Not just Run D.

Lol. Some will only use the ones that only fits their narratives.

This isn't a "narrative". 3rd in Run D is a real thing when we find ourselves not being able to run on them. Watch the games, bro.

Lol, our defense is still better than theirs. End of discussion

Our defense doesn't play against their defense. LOL. End of discussion.

They're gonna score.points. No way around it.

I think we should be more concerned about if we will score enough against them. They have a damn good defense too, the best we will have faced to this point. By far. On the road. In an extremely hostile environment. Baltimore has one of the low key best home field advantages there is when they are good. Luckily we have KS but if we make too many mistakes this will be a problem. Can we keep up on offense is what I'm actually more concerned with.

The most points thr Ravens can score at any given time is 7 or 8. Can we do enough on offense to keep pace with that? That's honestly the matchup I'm most excited to see.

I was about to bring it up myself.

The fact is teams can't score against the Ravens.

I wondered why until I started looking into it. Their D-line is stout AF.

And this is what I found, their D-line might not be full of sack masters like our boys, but their line is built on size and physicality to stop the run. There is a reason why they are ranked 3rd in Run D when the 9ers are all the way down at 19th. Our D-line personnel types are totally different.

So, get this, how much do you think our DTs weigh? Take Buckner for example, the dude is 300 lbs. And their DTs? 325, 336, 340, 350.

And guess how much our own DEs weigh? Dee Ford 255, Bosa 266. And theirs? 287, 300.

While they might not be getting many sacks, they are nevertheless going to collapse the pocket in a big way. This is further compounded by the fact that the 9ers has the smallest/lightest O-line in the entire NFL. So, believe me, Jimmy G will be feeling it. But, that is not the end of the story, their back end aren't exactly scrubs neither which kind of explains when teams tried to throw on them they couldn't neither on top of not being able to run against those giants.

And this is kind of my fear. If the field is too wet/muddy then those D-linemen will be pushing us around. If it is just dry enough I think we will be OK with our scheme.

Is simple physics. If is down to a bar fight scenario in the mud, their pure size and strength will without doubt out-physical the 9ers.

The 9ers are only physical on the defensive side of the ball. On the offensive side of the ball, we are essentially a finesse team that wins on clever schematics and speed. Our O-line will never be able to handle really physical dudes. Our O-line is primarily a zone blocking line, when it comes to pass protection we are pretty sh*t actually if I am being honest.

Niners finesse offense?
Is that what kittle said to baker while he was stiff arming him for a td with a popped knee cap and chipped bone?
Or deebo when he is constantly going over the middle?
You are way off on this one dude. If you are specifically talking about oline, they have been playing ever which way due to injuries- I think they are doing well and getting a healthy Staley back will help.

Kittle in the only exception.

Look at our WR corps, tell me who is big, strong and physical other than Jalen Hurd who is out for the year? Deebo? Errr, may be. Look at the rest. All of them are small, skinny and soft. Sanders, Goodwin, Pettis, etc. One good hit can sort them out in a blink of an eye.

I stand by what I say about the O-line. It is not a pass pro line, it is a line designed to be light and shifty for zone run blocking. Even if Staley gets back, the guy is old. We all saw how Clowney embarrassed the fxxk out of him on Monday Night Football. And how about McGlinchey? The kid gets regularly owned too.

One good hit, so I guess deebo has been playing without being hit this whole season? Seems to be doing pretty well for that.
Honestly don't see your logic as you played it out here. So any person that is the largest in the NFL will win and that's it? Tell that to a midget in Seattle. A lot of things go into being a good player and a well coached prepared team.

You sound just like Kittleskittle, nothin but negative Nancy b.s. If you're so worried don't watch the game. But don't sit here post after post trying to convince us that we're doomed.

Sooner or later someone is going to lay the smack down on RGIII 2.0 might as well be the 49ers. Personally I'd like to see a Chancellor vs VD hit on LJ, maybe that will bring him back to earth and get all these talking heads off his jock. Maybe then he can start using his head instead of just his braun. Sooner later he's going to get hurt, Harbaugh and the Ravens obviously don't care if they did they wouldn't continue to allow their starting QB to keep running like he does. Right now he's not costing them big money so what the F right?

Should be more worried about Roman calling the right shot play at the right time. He has always been good at that.
