No doubt. And I like that approach. Pass rush is more important. But make the team PROVE they can consistently gash you first before making any adjustments. Adjust.

Yup, I'm hoping they bench Day and play Taylor a little more.

Haha if there is a job that someone is consistently wrong at - it's the weather man
I'm confused, is Rascal a Niners fan?
Our offense better be ready to score points if we going to win this one, cause I don't think our defense can hold mobile qbs, mobile qbs neutralize the pass rush, we knew that when we had kap

Come on man, (in my Cris Carter voice ) you know these forums are stocked full of fake ass Niner fans acting like they're fans but happy as hell when the team loses or players get hurt.
They love to predict losses and love to pick against the team and love to complain about every move the franchise makes.
Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with calling players out when they mess up, or coaches or calling out the Yorks for horrible decisions in years past and even complaining about drafting certain players, that's just part of being a fan, but if you watch close you will see at the best moments of the season, that's when these so called fans disapear, or even make excuses as to why the team won, or better yet, they predict how the team is going to fail next week.

I think there should be a thread dedicated to calling out these fake ass fans by username to shame them out of the forums completely.

All fans don't have to agree about everything and it's perfectly fine to criticize players, coaches and ownership, but when you come in and troll about and find happiness in the team losing or failing in some way, you're just acting like a piece of dog dung.

I agree completely!!! That way we can help the mods do their job and remove the unsubstantial garbage posted from the usual suspects. Some of these posters are so pathetic that they stalk these threads just to incite and get attention which I'm sure they lack in real life -- I almost feel bad for them, but, actually I don't lol. It's getting tired.

Will try and get that out Friday. I've just finished the first of 4 planned review videos, am doing a Texans review video for a good friend of mine who's working overseas in Costa Rica right now and then will look for a scouting video.

Awesome I'll be looking out for it if it comes out. You're the man! And love the review you have in YouTube keep them up

And this is for anyone that might have an idea, why don't teams blast Jackson when he's running the option? I've seen many many many times this year where teams will just contain and watch. When Lamar hands it off they're out of position to tackle the RB anyways, why not just hit Jackson every time since you're not gonna tackling the rb when you're containing anyways. Not talking target him to for injury , just legal hits over and over and I promise they won't continue putting him in harms way as much.

This.
Here's a quality breakdown by Crock using the Pat's defense for reference.

I think Rascal forgets that sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

He also forgot that we just completely shutdown a future HOF QB and a top 5 playoff team in the NFL. Yet, we're still getting blowout by LJ and his Ravens because they blew out the 3rd best team in our division. Lol. Grow some marbles and have some faith in our team. Niners are 10-1 for a reason.

You are what your record is. And as far as I know, I think our record is 10-1?

Yes, indeed and the record also says we are 19th against the run.

...and we're 10 and 1. If I'm ahead by 14+ points in the late third QTR, do I care whether you run or not? Not really, I'd rather you run and bleed time off the clock than pass for chunk yardage and even up that score. So guess what, I'm playing my wide 9 and having my defense go after the QB. Go ahead and run traps, sweeps, and counters - I don't care - as long as you can't gain yardage in the air. It serves my purpose to bleed the clock and put the game away with the pass rush. There's a saying that NCommmand always says when I get into a stat argument with him. He says, "There's lies, damn lies, and statistics."

Look at the Green Bay drive in the 2nd half, they moved the ball on the ground, they scored, but how long did it take them to score?

DEFENSIVE GAME PLAN - I think we have to do something non-traditional to contain Lamar's dual threat - and I think we have the unique capability to do it.

1. MUSH RUSH W/ CONTAIN - The DL needs to focus on rushing Lamar in a way that contains him, which means not rushing so hard, focusing on bull-rushes rather than gap penetration, force his escape to be large loops away from the line rather than squirting gaps up the middle. If you rush Lamar hard it gives the OL a chance to break up the DL's ability to work together, and Lamar kills a DL that looses gap control. We seemed to do this a bit against Rogers to some success. DJ Reed is going to need to have a big game controlling the middle.

2. LB's - Playing zone coverage with gap assignments if Lamar escapes up the middle. Al-Shahir working as a spy on Lamar. Warner is going to have to play contain as well, not much coverage.

3. COVERAGE - KEY this game with a slower rush - This is out of the box, but New England did this before to contain Anthony Gonzales. We need to take our biggest and best corner - Sherman - and have him play the best TE, primarily in an underneath coverage to take away throws to him. I've only seen Sherman play inside on rare occasions, so not sure he can do it - he is so used to using the sideline in his coverage leverage. Tart is going to have to take the other TE. The other corners are going to have to cover Hollywood Brown with Ward over the top.

If the D can stop the big plays and force a few punts, the Offense if going to have to be at its best to score every drive.

I hope to god the experience of modifying the D scheme to play Wilson and Murray give the 9ers defense enough to stop the Lamar show!!

Sounds like a game plan. Add in ball control on offense to keep them off the field as well. Limiting their quick strikes is a key to victory.

Can we duplicate the strategy LAC used against Baltimore in the playoffs last year?

Boom 16-0 and I haven't even finished my first beer. Do you remember how Jimmy G had to step up to play catch-up when the D couldn't stop Murray and we couldn't run the ball neither? And that was a Cardinals team with a losing record whereas now we are talking about a 9-2 Ravens team that has beaten the Pats, Seahawks, Texans and Rams.

Kyler Murray - 24 of 33 for 150 yards 2tds 4 sacks & 67 rush yds
17 of 24 for 251 yards 2tds 3 sacks & 34 rush yrs

Russel Wilson - 24 of 34 for 232 1 TD 1 Pick 5 sacks and 53 rush yds

So these numbers show Kyler moving the ball at will? These numbers show us completely unable to deal with mobile QBs? We blew out the Packers and Panthers. Beat the Rams handily and were a missed kick from beating the Hawks who is our only loss. You clearly are full of it when your saying these last couple games aren't clouding your judgement. Anybody can exclude certain weeks and make a team look unbeatable but, they have lost twice.

The Ravens will have to choose, sell out to beat our running game and let Jimmy have open passing lanes all day. Or play balanced and allow Shanny to work his scheming magic on their D. You say their D-line is big and scary. Well all the better to run right around them with our outside zones and leave them gasping for air all game long. I have major confidence in Shannys ability to figure out their defense. So to me this game has two realistic outcomes with a whole bunch of fringe possibilities. One they shutdown our rum game and this turns into a shootout that comes down to the 4th quarter. Or both teams are able to play their games and it comes down to the 4th quarter. Either way I trust Jimmy to shut everyone up of we can give him the ball on the last possession.
However they do it they have to keep Jackson from getting started. If we allow him any running lanes then it will be a long day. You have to stop him before he gets started, just like the way you defend great running backs. That means the D line needs to dominate and penetrate enough to confuse them. I agree that you need to employ more of a contain rush instead of a bull rush. Surround him so he has no place to escape.
