I'm surprised Buck and Aikman aren't doing the game - it's an insult to us and the Ravens that Burkhardt and Davis are doing the game.

I hate Buck. Aikman is bearable. I like Burkhardt his the mlb guy right?? and Davis is always calm and poise does tend to overstate the obvious at times.

I cut ties with aikman after the country fiasco

Lamar Jackson is their best player and without him they'll fold. Teams usually double team the opposing team's best player.

I say we should double team Lamar and totally take him out of his game. Our unblocked DE should hit LJ on every RPO play, on top of that put Tartt/Ward as a spy incase he escapes on every play. Smother LJ and we should be able to shut them down.

Also, play Julian Taylor more instead of Sheldon Day to penetrate and collapse the middle with DJ Jones to force Ingram to hesitate and stutter step in the backfield.

i am not advocating for him to get hurt. but if he gets hurt. thats fine with me

My bad, I should've word it better. Didn't mean to literally take him out as in hurting him. I meant take him out of his game play. Put 2 guys on him and smother him all day.

i realized that after i read your post again as i did a knee jerk thing.. then it got me thinking. lol

Damn you boys! STop jinxing us! Next thing you know we're trotting Mullens into the game at the end of the 1st quarter

i do not mind people getting hurt as long as its the right people . like none of ours
The rest of the NFL will be watching closely to see how our defense slows down LJ and his offense.

You are right on. I think if Saleh does a good job on sunday he pretty much has a head coaching job next year. who is looking for a HC? Dc and who else

I don't think that means he will be a HC. Teams want an offensive minded coach. If Saleh goes, I don't think that'll it will be that much of a drop off.
Me neither. As long as we keep woods kocurek et al.

I'll just add that in addition to stopping their run, we have to be able to run on them and score and play keep away. (as so many have said on this thread).

I"m looking for DJ Jones, Julian Taylor and Sheldon Day to have an outstanding day.

Neither the Cardinals nor the Ravens are doing anything particularly groundbreaking in terms of their offensive approach. You're basically seeing spread offenses get run out of big peoples. They are distracting you with the razzle dazzle and then punching you in the face with their two and three TE formations. Defenses will eventually start to figure it out, just like what we saw with the extensive use of the read option in 2012. We saw how quickly the 49ers made adjustments from the first Cardinals game to the second. I have no doubt that Belichick will be opening up his whole bag of tricks should he see Baltimore in the playoffs.

Ultimately when it comes to the Ravens, defenses just have to commit to hitting Lamar Jackson everytime he tries running those read options. If they want to play pretend and act like he's a RB then you hit him like he is a RB each and every single play. You'll undoubtedly get flagged and you'll get gashed on the ground by their RB's a few times but if defenses did this game after game, he'd be a lot less jazzed up to take off and run as frequently and they'd be less likely to call those plays period. While the NFL still allows it, defenses just have to keep blasting these QBs. Run them over every time and eventually it cease being an issue because no one wants to see their QB get mauled game after game.

I've posted this play before but this is what the unblocked guy has to do on every read option play. The 49ers got absolutely gashed by Lynch here but how many times do you want to see your QB rocked like this? Brooks flat out ignores everything else and just wrecks Wilson.

What San Diego had success with against Baltimore in the playoffs was just loading up with defensive backs and sending guys flying to the ball on each play. The Chargers had a four man rush with often seven DB's out on the field and it stopped Baltimore dead in their tracks, then they got behind and this is not an offense that is really built to play from behind. You're not going to beat them with power so you may as well try to beat them with speed and limit their opportunities for big plays on the ground.

I just hope that win or lose, the team doesn't let themselves fall apart the way the Rams did. That was absolutely disgraceful, that defense showed zero heart and zero pride, they just let the Ravens run wild all over them and never seemed to offer even the slightest resistance. If you're going to lose, lose playing hard, hitting hard and not quitting until the clock runs out in the fourth quarter.

Baltimore picks their spots where they run the RPO, they try to really run up the middle and get that defense concentrated on stopping the middle runs so that Lamar can use his speed to go out wide. 49ers most likely have charted when they use that RPO and they should blitz the heck out of Lamar on those downs, and I was trying to keep track on when they do the RPO, and it seemed to me, to be on third and Shorts when they used those RPO's. Kyle mentioned the wild cat formation, and I can see that in the Greg Roman Baltimore offense. Saleh may have to use Wildcat defensive concepts to stop Lamar in those Wildcat RPO's.

AGree that they arent' built to come from behind. If we can get a lead on them, it's game over for them. For sure.

Let's show Lamar some extreme violence. Blow his ass up on EVERY read option play. Keep your head up (no crown hits) and knock his off.

No need to go sack LJ every play.

Contain, pressure, and let him panic and run right into you.

Let him sack himself.

Win game!

I think you do have to hit Lamar as often as it's legally possible, to make sure he knows he's not going to get any easy yards on this defense. I think the Wide 9 aggression will be sufficient, plus some blitzing, will put the fear of god in Lamar. They are going to get their run yardage, they are a good run team, and the key for our team is to be able to run and pass on their defense.
Go 49ers
i feel bad for both Kyle and Saleh... I bet as we speak they are not even enjoying thanksgiving prolly on the Tablet working studying film and just looking for some kinda nuances or such from the Ravens.

Yep yep...just don't over pursue because I have seen him panic and run right into defenders. But hit the snot outta him "legally" everytime
