Why didn't we do a better job defensively against the Ravens?

I think the Niners need to ease in a little 3-4 Defense with a sprinkle of 46 to confuse their competition, along with a little man coverage. The 3-4 with the Niners personnel would have slowed them down even more. Bosa and Ford in OLB, with Armstead and Buckner at DE and Jones at NT going forward.

lol thank you for this

Ok this makes sense now.

As I said I only saw highlights, stats, and the last 5 minutes.

DIdn't see the first half where we gave up 10 real points plus the gift 7 from jimmy.

I didn't think I needed to see more than the highlights and stats to know we didn't do what we wanted.

Anyone have a link? This is a game I would like to see completely.

I don't expect to feel differently, but maybe the penalties were game changing.

Well that certainly explains it. Not sure how you can make a thread without even watching the whole thing.

That fumble wasn't a "gift" it was a situation where Jimmy was trying to tuck the ball away while getting tackled by one player and the other guy came up behind him and punched the ball out.

Here's a thought for next time...watch the game first and THEN make a thread about it?

Cant ask for much better than that

And gifted them 7 of that
held a damn good team and the NFLs MVP (probable) to 20 points.
The defense played great. What more do you want from them.

Are you saying the rest of the game was completely different?

Or that giving up 178 yards on the ground is ok?

Or that getting one sack / 22 attempts is ok?

Or all three?

Because we're not beating the Ravens in the super bowl unless our d does better.

We're not getting a turnover free dominating game from our offensive personnel.

Ahhh so you didn't watch the game and yet you're complaining?

Lock this thread up
When you lose there are always things to point to. Second half the defense was much better. I was annoyed with the clock management before the half. If they got stuffed up the middle on 4th and 1 people would complain about the call. I'm puzzled when the 49er win 1) the other team sucks, 2) the media explains what the other team did wrong. When the 49ers lose the media acts like the 49ers got destroyed, but two walk off field goals loses aren't too bad.

The stupid Browns Steelers game got earlier and more coverage. A wild card may be awesome, because Dallas sucks and would get worked by the 49ers.

You really have to wonder. I can find several things to complain about, but the defense overall isn't one of them.

jg is tied #7 in league for fumbles and tied #4 for fumbles lost.

He's #18 in pass attempts.

we gave up 178 yards on the ground, and you are complaining that I am complaining? Weird.

As I said in my op, we kept Baltimore below their averages. That's great.

But, we didn't really stop them either.

Hopefully the coaching staff will pay more attention to that than you are willing to.

If anyone is to blame in this game it's the offense not the defense. Do you not realize that after their bye week this Baltimore team has averaged 43 points per game? That includes beating the #1 defense in points allowed, #12 D in points allowed and #17 D in points allowed.

We kept them to their lowest point total of the season(including the fumble deep in our territory for the short TD drive), we kept them to their 2nd lowest yardage total by 6 yards and their lowest at home by 90 or so yards.

Because we didn't shut them down completely or sack Lamar 5+ times or pick him off multiple times doesn't mean the defense played poorly.

You know who held the Ravens to their lowest rushing total on this season? The Bengals.

The score in that game? 49 to 13. Think their defense did well?

I don't give a sh*t where he's ranked on the year. We're talking about that specific play. And FYI since you don't seem to bother watching the games before commenting on them, some "fumbles" are given to the QB on the RB exchange, botched snap...some things that aren't straight up fumbles by the QB.
