This is very true in many cases.

Ryan never said ALL black peoples' skin matched the ball. He just said Lamar's did in those conditions. If we've reached the point in our society where we cant even acknowledge that there's an observational difference between peoples skin tones, we're screwed.

the point being ... I think those were just great ball fakes and nothing more. in my opinion the guy is a wizard faking the ball .... nothing more ... nothing less. when will we get to a point where skin color is obsolete. Jackson has been doing this all year and ryan is the first one to bring up skin color. absolutely ridiculous in my opinion

to say the niners couldn't see the ball because of Jackson's skin color is idiotic at best. when the great qb's like rogers make a great ball fake in the back field it is because of great skill and precision. when Jackson makes a great fake it is because he's so dark. unbelievable !!!!!

Didn't know Rogers was running a read option and had the ball buried in his chest 90% of the time I get what you're trying to say just not a very good example.

rogers really wasn't the point ..... just say that Jackson is a hellava ball faker and move on. that's what I saw
Being SF, Tim should apologize for his whiteness and bring up Bosa's racism for chasing Lamar

He'd get called a racist. Too many are raised to only see black and white, sadly.

I think you see black and white.

yes paint our white qb.

Looks like you found your thread.

To be fair, Ryan has said his ball fakes were really good. He wasn't implying that the only reason they worked was because of skin color. I think his comments were more meant as "It doesn't help".

I agree that he shouldn't have mentioned skin color. Its just too easy of a target in society today. Its now a sport for people to patrol for this stuff and try to end peoples careers.

He could've simply said in the rain with the jersey color the ball is hard to see. Soon as you mention skin color even in the context which is pretty darn logical it becomes what it became.
Pretty much how I feel.
I don't get to have an opinion on this because I am a white dude, so not my place to make the call here. I am curious though and I don't really want to dig through the thread guessing as to the legitimacy of opinions. I haven't been able to find amongst my friends of any race anyone who found this comment offensive? Of the black folks here, did this offend you? Do you think it was racism or an over reaction? A coworker who is black said this sort of over reaction , his words not mine, can actually undermine legitimate conversation. Mean while I have some admittedly very liberal white friends who are disgusted by it? It seems to me that it should be up to the potentially offended party to decide?

I agree that ryan in my opinion isn't racist.... he just said a stupid thing and has apologized and we should all move on. I have said stupid things and I'm sure all of the posters on here ,except maybe ny (lol) have said stupid things.
Apparently any mention of skin color makes you racist, no matter why you say it - but ONLY if the person saying it is white, and only if it is being said about someone that is not white.

Hmm, nobody seemed to get upset or offended by so many draft prospect sites that only compared Nick Bosa to J.J. Watt....

But truthfully, this is nothing new. I still remember seeing a show on ESPN several years ago. It started talking about the racism and the stigma of "the black quarterback". How the perception was they had to be more athletic, because they could not read defenses as well and things like that. Oh how this was wrong wrong wrong! And then, in the very NEXT segment...they marvel at how well Jason Sehorn was playing at cornerback...because "white guys just aren't supposed to be able to move that fast". Gotta love the double standard!

And for the record, I think the 49ers suspending Ryan for this shows what a weak organization they are. Lost a ton of respect for them over this.

The worst part of the race card is that everyone jumps on it instantly in social media, it becomes an in to vent about racism, actions are made and not one single person ever asks the original person if he could clarify what he meant.

He made the comments on his Monday morning show on KNBR. Nothing racist in the way he said it. He just commented that Lamar Jackson's ball handling is so good that when you combine the wet dark jerseys and ball with his dark skin color it made it harder to tell if he still had it. When I heard it I wasn't sure whether he meant that the players were having a harder time or he was. In either case it wasn't anything malicious and it's a shame he has to be suspende for something like that. I'm guessing a few people called and complained because they are leftist woke asylum needing fools.

FIFY.

If you had read the actual quote or listened to it, you would know that is not what he said....
