It was a dumb thing to say, if factually accurate on the most basic level. It was also already a forgotten statement two days later when he was suspended, so seems like an overreaction by HR to me, but they would rather overreact now than risk (as minimal as that risk is) a bigger incident down the road where it looked like they covered up/ignored minor moments like this one.

Decent odds this is something a 49er player (possibly a player of color) on defense told Tim Ryan when he asked them about the challenge of playing against Jackson. Most of what Ryan will relate has origins in the locker room with him rephrasing.

EDIT: Fixed some aspects of time frame, and added second paragraph.

I actually wonder if they made a bigger deal about it by suspending him and announcing it publicly.

Then Trump joins the Broncos and we are right back where we started.

Absolutely...zero doubt.

I think they had to suspend Ryan to show that they treat the issue with seriousness. Not that they overreacted. It's not enough to only put out a statement these days. It would akin to just talks.

So was Tim Ryan's comment.
lol the comment is forgivable.

I actually like Tim Ryan, he sounds like a genuine Niner fan during broadcasts. He was even jabbing with the Ravens fans heckling him in the stands.

That brown hands hide a football better? I'm not sure about that either way but I know it's a point you shouldn't try to make.

Every time they touched him the refs threw a flag...

That's why I love him...through and through a true diehard. He can't even hide it.
I feel for Jackson. MVP year and now he will have to answer questions for the rest of the year about Ryan's comments and how much his skin tone is a factor in his success (vs qb ability).

Nah. This will blow over in a day. It's just too dumb of a topic.
