Personally IMO doesn't matter what the Niners did it was inevitable it was going to blow up in the media.

So I ask the Niners.... why a suspension? What do you gain from this? The backlash will still come. Do you honestly think that was the high road move because that's the go to card nowadays (quick let's take care of this In-house to save face and diffuse the situation) all while patting themselves on the back hoping it goes away.

Won't fkn go away and we will hear about it all week. And just fkn wait if the Niners and Ravens played in the SB can you imagine the s**tshow this will become? Media and the PC culture are like fkn rabid wolves. I honestly think the suspension was lame and just another let's try and save face move.

I agree with everything you said!

So glad this thread happened. I'm not racist in any way and I said the EXACT same thing when I was watching the game live. The ball was practically invisible when Lamar faked the handoffs. I can't believe the backlash for this.

Yeah my opinion on this is...we live in a world where being absolutely PC is a must. Even the tiniest of terms get's magnified. I'm a liberal BUT I think it's gotten to a point where s**t is just obnoxious. Let's save the witch burning for things that truly matter.

Tim wasn't wrong in saying hey he's dark skinned, the ball is dark and you could even say their jerseys are dark, which would make it hard to read where the ball was going. NOW people can interpret it as what he probably was meaning or make it about race.

THAT said he's a voice with a platform and he's gotta be better with what he says KNOWING it will probably offend someone. Topics like race/gender/who you f**k/religion are all things that kinda need to be off limits for guys like him. Even the slightest thing can turn into a avalanche of s**t.

I also agree with both of these postings!

He wasn't he was talking about visually seeing the ball. Nice spin though.

They should set a standard requirement for apologies
So just to be clear, the reason this was bad was because Lamar is white? lol anyone who got offended by this is weak AF. Lamar is a great player and from what I see he seems to be a good person. People need to relax A LOT.

Has he been asked this?

I agree with this. I've never liked him as a commentator.

This 100%

This for sure! I kept wondering the whole game... what are you guys doing?? You are going after the wrong dude. Lamar is the far more dangerous runner. Hit him....and hit him again... and maybe it might make him think twice next time about running with the ball.
Then isn't calling black people black and white people white racist. It's a name referring to their skin color.

Oh please, what Ryan said is totally justifiable. Again this is my prime example of people being sensitive to the subject.

But you understand why the 49ers went public with it and gave him a game off right? It was a PR move. Good for us bad for Tim but we don't need the bad press. Gotta keep the focus on football. The 49ers know how the media is. They had to do it to keep down confusion and I don't blame them. I blame more so the media of which Tim is supposed to be a part of

I was actually responding to the first part of his post not last paragraph. I agree they had to take action right away. But I just hope Ryan doesn't get fired for this.

the reason it was bad because It was a stupid thing to say. so everybody who doesn't agree with everything you think or say is weak AF. That's BS. Lamar needs to get credit for being great with the football. not because his hand is black. by the way , I didn't get offended, it was just a stupid comment that got called out.

Always better to get in front of it early. The quote was starting to make its way around -- it was made on a local broadcast, so takes some time to spread. But it was probably only a day or two away from being on full blast nationally. Fox/Espn/CBS/NFLN live for things like this.

Niners did the right thing. Because, now, when it is inevitably discussed...they can discuss how the Niners took decisive action and not the "helloooooo Ninersssss WTFFFFFFFF..." Which obviously plays way worse.

Agreed and it's better for Ryan too. You pretend nothing occurred, it blows up and they may of had to can him. When it's a story because the org made it a story, let him apologize, then punished him for it. It will blow over in a day.

Getting in front of it certainly allows them to say they're reacting to the comment instead of the backlash.
