while watching the game I innocently had the exact same thought go through my head, it was such an obvious observation, a black helmet with a black uniform and a dark skin man seemed to disappear, just an observation

dammit..... I just got Richard Shermans jersey ..... I'm sending that s#it back to where it came from... then again ... he did say he was making a play fake. and he was swinging his arm really fast .... maybe if it was a white arm we would have seen the ball ..... ridiculous lol doesn't change my mind at all .... it was a stupid comment and I'm sticking to it. and I'm keeping my Richard Sherman jersey too lol!!!!!

Yepppppppppppp.
Why aren't we talking about Cleveland and all their unfair advantages from their uniform color?
It's just a total load of it, man.
Ah because their are rules to what you can and can't wear lol duh.
Why do you think Boise State is forbidden to wear all blue when on their blue field lol? nah no advantage there, right?
I mean it was a dumb comment and really doesn't need to be talked about as long as it has. Defending Jackson would be stupid hard if he was green/white/yellow or whatever. It surely doesn't help SF that he has a dark complexioned, is wearing their all black jersey & in the pouring rain. Was it a reason they couldn't stop the read option nah. He's just good end of the day.
People need to think before they speak, especially in the media. He was asking for trouble saying that regardless of what he meant.

Lmao, you don't need this thread for that. It's easy to know......
1. Every white person is racist that is out to oppress every race and kill innocent people.
2. Every non white, is an oppressed victim by every white person everywhere.
White is evil racist, non white is oppressed and victimized no matter who or where they are.
Welcome to America 2019

LOCK THIS THREAD. It's asinine and much ado about nothing. The word intent comes to mind and everyone agrees he didn't intend to offend anyone...

But what actually gets me more than what Tim Ryan is how many people (most who aren't Black) rush to dismiss things like this as just political correctness. Doing so basically tells a whole group of people how they should perceive something that can rightfully be perceived as offensive, how or why they should be offended, or even that they have no right to be offended at all. They are, in effect, speaking for all of those who could be offended, in this case Black America. Its quite easy for people who have never had their skin color be made the source of all manner of negative existence of their lives in this nation to then turn around and tell them that another non-Black's words aren't offensive at all and that they have no right to be offended.
Just because Tim Ryan isn't a racist don't mean he's incapable of making a fundamentally racist statement. Do I wanna see him off the radio? Of course not. I enjoy his commentary. But he should be held to account.
Fair and good post. Many don't get this type of perspective in their daily life. I think it's overboard to suspend Ryan over that comment, I think all of us agree he isn't racist, but you can't say that s**t in 2019.

Ford:
Sherman:
"He walked up to me earlier, and before he even said anything, I told him, 'I got your back,'" Ford responded. "I already knew the story. The words kind of got taken out of context. Of course, I think he knows now he could have used better judgment with his words, but we've got his back.
"I knew what he was trying to say. This era we live in, it's just what it is. But I know him personally. I speak to him a lot. He loves to watch the D-line, and there's not one type of bone — you know what bone I'm talking about — in his body, so I got his back. So, put that to bed really fast."

"So, it was technically a valid point, but you can always phrase things better. You can phrase things and not say 'his black skin.'
"I've had a relationship with him since I got here. He's never been anything but a great guy, and a professional, and a guy who takes his job seriously, so it's unfortunate that's what it came to. The team did what they had to do, but in that situation, it's a play where he's talking football, and he could have used better verbiage.
"I don't think anybody in this locker room has taken it offensively or anything. He's apologized, and we know his character, so hopefully, this thing can blow over, and we can move past it."

I actually think Tim Ryan is awful. Judging from this thread, I am surprisingly in the minority.
lol the announcers are part of the team. Hes not going to criticize the guys in charge. Thats for the analysts and writers to do.
Hes not a top tier color guy, but he's perfectly fine. He knows the game, has a former players perspective, and is tight with the players on the team. And hes an actual fan. He gets emotionally charged during the broadcast and reflects the fan attitude.
This. He and Papa make a very good team IMO.

NFLPA just released a statement: Dark black QBs are now required to wear white sleeve t-shirts under their jerseys do to the unfair advantage.
The league is also considering changing the color of the football to pink pastel.

Edit: And those were some of my main posts earlier. I've never heard anything from Ryan's previous commentary that gave me any indication that he had any racial biases or ill will. Understanding a person, intent, and context is important. It was not well thought out for sure, and I doubt something like that will come out of his mouth again.

Okay, after wasting a couple hours reading about Tim Ryan's inappropriate unfortunate goof up, i think we have had enough of non football discussion here. Therefore i am locking , or going to attempt locking this thread. I will leave with this observation tho.
I also had difficulty following the dark brownish black football when it was soaking wet. Therefore, i strongly suggest we have a 3rd game uniform, officially titled the "Mudder". There is no question that when an exceptionally gifted QB wearing a dark blue-black uniform is holding the wet brown black ball against his uniform or in front of it...it is much harder to see. Most uniforms go down to about the elbow (it varies), but Ravens uniforms were a definite advantage when that ball was fully wet and blackish brown in color.
I am in favor of having uniforms that exact color , just for playing in mud and rain. Note in the pics of Lamar, my pic for MVP, when he has a new ball up against his uniform the new red-brown ball is easy to see. When that ball is wet and against his uniform, it was not.
This entire episode had to do with uniform color in a sloppy , wet, muddy game. And i want uniforms of the same color for us in rainy wet games. Try blue-black with very dark red brown numerals.
If someone wants to move this to parking lot , be my guest.
