For those that don't know it's hosted by Rich Eisen with Cris Collinsworth and Bill Belichick adding commentary. They had Deion Sanders and Ed Reed in studio as nominees.
Collinsworth told a story about him and Lott being on a USO tour in Germany, and being really intense in the huddle about playing troops in basketball and if they didn't get their act together they wouldn't be respected and beaten. And then Collinsworth replied "what's wrong with you? We've been beating these guys a hundred to nothing at every stop and we'll beat these guys too the same way. Man, if you're like this, no wonder we {Bengals} could never beat you!"
Reed said that Lott came up to him at College Football Hall of Fame, put his hand on his should and told him that he was the best out of all the safeties. And Reed replied "but you only have 9 fingers, you're the best"
Unfortunately Belichick had nothing to say about Lott, which is interesting as he has plenty to say about many others. Could never stop gushing about Ed Reed, probably wishes he was his son!
Anyway, I happened to catch the post show and Joe Gibbs had some cool things to say about Lott. He said they tried to run a bootleg to Rypien thinking the Niner defense would totally buy a run with Riggins, and somehow Lott knew and leveled him. Then afterwards he looked over to the Skins sideline and did a that finger nod to them!! He also mentioned another story where Lott played a certain coverage really well instinctively, I forget exactly.
A great program for true football fans. Belichick better have things to say about Rice and Montana otherwise I'm declaring him a Niner hater for real!!
