Right. If one thinks Jimmy G is not elite that is their prerogative.
They're 100% wrong if they think that, but they are entitled to hold onto their moronic opinions.
I'm a long-time, diehard 49er fan but I'm also one of the most objective fans I know and therefore I don't believe JG is elite yet considering he's in his first year with a playoff-bound team and he only has 20 starts under his belt. That's not a criticism it's just based on facts. IMO, elite is being top 5 qb year after year for many years not ONE year of great numbers. I'm sure JG can get there and he is playing great football right now but he still has some issues to work on like taking too many sacks and coughing up the ball before he gets placed in the "elite" category. I think that's reasonable and fair, anything more is pure homerism.
Elite is probably hyperbole. IMO there are only a handful of elite QBs in the game so getting to that status requires consistency and extreme dominance.
Jimmy is definitely showing some great things and seems to be growing, which is what you want out of a guy who doesn't have 2 full seasons of starting experience.
Everyone tried to sh*t on him after the Seattle game where NOTHING went right on offense. But no QB would look good in that situation, not Jackson, Mahomes, Wilson, Brady, Rodgers, Brees...etc.
We've seen what Jimmy can do when the OL plays well, his receivers play well. He'll grow with experience and as the chemistry with our guys improves across the board.
But once again Jimmy continues to stay on top of one of the biggest stats which is rarely mentioned when it comes to QB play...3rd down conversion %
He's still #1 in the league at converting 3rd downs by a QB.
