There are QBs that were annointed as the next great thing with far fewer starts than Garoppolo.

What I see with him is a QB that is ascending, looking more comfortable and confident in this offense.

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect that progression to continue until the "Just make Garoppolo beat you with his arm" talking points are in the dustbin of history.

Completely agree.
Such a great feeling waking up this morning!

Down by 9 and Solly had just sacked Brees to bring up 4th down. This was only a game late because the refs helped the Saints score 2 late TD's. It was going to be 4th and 5 and the same ref called PI on a pass that was 5 foot in front and 10 feet over the receivers head. The fix was in at the Bayou but what they couldn't fix was George Kittle.

they tried to kill juice. f**k em

Expecting holding there is ridiculous. He got too cute and wanted the refs to bail him out. If you really want to go for it on 4th down, keep the football in your HOF QB's hands dumbass.

He fell in love with his Taysom Hill gimmick plays but the key to those plays remaining effective is that you actually have to show Hill to be a viable threat in passing the football from time to time.

Right. If one thinks Jimmy G is not elite that is their prerogative.

They're 100% wrong if they think that, but they are entitled to hold onto their moronic opinions.

I'm a long-time, diehard 49er fan but I'm also one of the most objective fans I know and therefore I don't believe JG is elite yet considering he's in his first year with a playoff-bound team and he only has 20 starts under his belt. That's not a criticism it's just based on facts. IMO, elite is being top 5 qb year after year for many years not ONE year of great numbers. I'm sure JG can get there and he is playing great football right now but he still has some issues to work on like taking too many sacks and coughing up the ball before he gets placed in the "elite" category. I think that's reasonable and fair, anything more is pure homerism.

Elite is probably hyperbole. IMO there are only a handful of elite QBs in the game so getting to that status requires consistency and extreme dominance.

Jimmy is definitely showing some great things and seems to be growing, which is what you want out of a guy who doesn't have 2 full seasons of starting experience.

Everyone tried to sh*t on him after the Seattle game where NOTHING went right on offense. But no QB would look good in that situation, not Jackson, Mahomes, Wilson, Brady, Rodgers, Brees...etc.

We've seen what Jimmy can do when the OL plays well, his receivers play well. He'll grow with experience and as the chemistry with our guys improves across the board.

But once again Jimmy continues to stay on top of one of the biggest stats which is rarely mentioned when it comes to QB play...3rd down conversion %

He's still #1 in the league at converting 3rd downs by a QB.

2% points over the next guy(Deshaun Watson)

I thought that pass on the fake punt was on the money.

Saints fans are delusional and really despise the 49ers org. Lol. They think we were completely healthy and want a rematch at full strength. Lamo.

We apparently have a disgusting organization with players who like to cheap shot. Wasn't it the Saints who had money on hurting our players? Crying about the 80s and 2011. That combined with my hate for Shawn Peyton made this a satisfying win.

Big game against ATL boys. They will be tough. They always play us tough. Stay focused and fight through the injuries we need this win. Let's get it.

I was going through the gameday thread at saintreport.com. They were clamoring in the thread about how the refs were in it for the Niners, and no calls were going their way.

I was like lol wut ?!

They were talking mad s**te all week. Saying things like "come back after the game", "soon as we beat the whiners all of them will disappear", hilarious, if you're registered as a 9er fan you can't sign in, you're directed to another page.

I love how they're crying about the number of 9er fans in their city and dome.

Saints fans have done that for years. I remember before that 2011 game a ton of Saints fans were laughing at the idea that the 49ers could even keep it within 14 points, let alone win the actual game.

They were certain they were going to plow right through us and win another SB. The only thing that made that game any better was the backpedaling their fans did after they got owned.

Either way...hopefully we keep this going even with the injuries(why can't we just avoid them!?) and if we have to play them again let's do it at Levi and make Payton cry again.

I really love beating the saints. Especially after bounty gate. Sean Payton plays innocent but he's as dirty as the rest.

Definitely, especially after I watched SP and his very punchable pursed-mouthed face the entire game -- he seems to be looking more crazy in his older age nevermind the fact that he is a total POS b@#% for his bounty gate scandal...surprised he could even stay on as HC and show his face around NO after that but I guess his arrogance and narcissism made it easy for him. I'm so glad his arrogant early 2-pt conversion attempt failed and came back to bite him right in the a@#...hahaaaa. I hope we play the Saints in the playoffs at home when the score won't be so close. Bye-bye Saints.

It actually was a good throw but you have to expect that the coverage guy will be mugging the crap out of the intended receiver and the 49ers had an actual DB in Moore playing it which made it even less likely.

The problem with Hill is that they rarely have him throw it so teams less and less are honoring the pass. Payton saw that the 49ers had some issues with Murray and Jackson but those guys are far more dynamic athletes and far bigger threats as passers.

Agreed. It's honestly confusing cause during preseason Hill was flinging the rock better than Teddy. Lesser competition was in when Hill got in but still a throw is a throw.
Can anyone explain the logic of Sean Payton's decision to go for 2 points after their 2nd touchdown? I was scratching my head at the time. They failed the conversion and ironically lost by 2 points. lol

I didn't get that one either.

They used the Witherspoon personal foul yardage to go halfway to endzone. I guess they thought they have a better than 50/50 shot at making it...

Saints are something else. Headhunting on Juice, tore Spoons head off for no call, no penalties until 3rd quarter while we get called for arm punches as block in the back, and your guys hanging off Kittle's facemask for 20 yards in what could have been really dangerous

And yet...SP has the gall to cry after the fake punt about interference because he doesn't know the rules as well as our special teams player, be pissy after the game about the "officiating" (bro it was mostly homecookin) and then Brees says how it would have been nice to have Cook like we took him out Bountygate style? Dude it was clearly not headhunting and a borderline call IMO anyway. They whine so much.

49ers have gotten jobbed all year with officiating, schedule and injuries but they have not complained or made excuses, just handled business and embraced the challenges as a team. Its been cool to see.

you know i never blame refs.. but this is a very very very good post

cc forgot to say. the dumb ass is on the rules committee so he should know. f**k him

SP got what he deserved on the fake punt. He tried to force the referees to choose whether they were going to penalize a player for holding, or pass interference on that play because they way it is designed the defender sees punt, starts playing like it's a punt which means blocking him all the way down the field, but technically according to the letter of the rule, if a defender is engaged with a receiver prior to the ball being thrown it is holding. So SP expected to put the refs in a position to call PI if they don't know the rules, or at the least holding if they prove that they do, but either way free play for them. The fact that he's pissed they got neither shows what a f**king scumbag he is.
