Saints fan here. Just wanted to say congrats on the win! Was hard fought game and we both went into the game with good players out and loss good players on both sides during the game also. For some reason when we play it ends up being the best game of the year(2011). I was one who in the beggining of the season thought you guys werent as good due to yalls schedule i will admit to that, but over the last couple weeks yall have shown yall are a very good football team and am here to give you guys yall props, its well deserved. Before the game i came lurking and read that yall were going to destroy us and that pocket passers stand no chance against yall. So after this game i hope that we have also gained yalls respect that Drew Brees and our offense will always give us a chance even if it is against number one defense like yalls. I can not wait and hope that we have a rematch in the playoffs, Prefer our dome but chances are slim that that will happen now thanks to yall! We are clearly the best 2 teams in the NFC and arguably in the NFL. It was a game where whoever had the ball last would win and thats what ended up happening. Congrats again and until we meet again!

Lots of highlights on offense.
You know when an announcer proclaims "This game is bonkers!" with 6 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter, you're in for a barn burner.
The whole game was a literal highlight reel.

I was definitely thinking we were gonna sack Brees all game. He and his offense definitely gained a ton more respect from me. Here's to hoping we meet again in the playoffs at Levi's

Respect. I should have known Brees gets rid of the ball the 2nd fastest in the NFL. That neutralizes any pass rush. Kyle had Jimmy doing the same thing for half of the season coming back from the ACL and pass protection issues. It works! No doubt we'll see you again soon. Good luck.

Thanks for the nice post. The first 30 minutes were the best 30 minutes of football i have seen in my yrs watching football going back to the GB sweep with jim Taylor et al. That first 30 minutes deserves to be enshrined in Canton as NFLs best 30 mins of all time.
2nd half both Ds settled down and again we played each other even. First half even, tho we were ahead by a point. 2nd half was even Steven, even when we went up by two scores with 5:30 left to go. Somewhere early in 2nd half i posted , "Last team with ball, wins" Once you all scored to go ahead, with 53 seconds remaining, i wasn't so sure are as we started on the 25. Then on 4th and 2, JimmyG showed his stuff, a nice pass to kittle who danced out of a tackle and took off. When one, then two and finally 3 guys still couldn't bring him down, plus one had his whole hand in Kittle's grill, we got another 15, and that was it. One kneel down, and Gould's FG, which was saved by. WISH as the snap was way high and way to the right. He still got it down and up it went....just barely over the fingertips of one of the guys on the DL. That game could have gone either way and in a rematch, it will be the same. Last team with the ball...wins. ']
Truly a game for the ages. If you couldn't enjoy this game, W or L, what you saw was all pro football from about 44 guys, half on each team. I thot we could hold drew. Fat chance of that. He just ate up our D, but then JG came right back and scored like a dang slot machine. What a fantastical game .Appreciated your post. Next game won't be a lick different...will go down to last play.

Eli apple and gaurdner johnson were trailing coverage all game smh. On that 4th and 2 Gaurdner johnson was trailing and after kittle catches the pass the dude decides to trip at the worse time, then we got marcus williams did what ever you call what he did lol. Couldnt do anything but shake my head after all that.
On a side note i havent followed yall to claosely, but what was biggest reason for yalls turnaround from last year to this year?

i still have nightmares of us playing in candlestick park in 2011 playoffs when yall went down the field in 3 plays with no timeouts to score a touchdown and win. so much bad defense we have had after 2009. You would figure wed eventually have a pretty solid one after all of these years lol. Havin rematch in the playoffs is going to be the ticket and must watch! Hopefully we both get a little healthier if and when we meet again

In all honesty, TIME , and finishing the complete refurbishing of our 45 man squad. We have something like 43 players now we didn't have when Kyle and JL arrived. Our squad had Arik, Buckner, and Joe Staley. And Arik was still green as grass. Kyle /john lynch needed a full 3 drafts, FAs, and trades to completely rebuild our team. LUCK....as when out of the blue BB calls Lynch and says " you want garoppolo for your 2nd? Oh, and BB gave Lynch 30 minutes to decide because in 2 hrs JimmyG was going to become a FA and no compsensationf or JG. To their credit kyle and JL said yes...but kyle wasn't convinced til some time later. Jimmy watched a number of games but got in the last 5 and was just spectacular. Until that moment, kyle's Plan was for Cousins (MN)..the rest of the story is that these two guys are astute talent evaluators, and we have hit a number of terrific picks in rds 4 to 7, adding Kocurek for the DL and joe woods for DBs were Godsends.
But the thing that really was superb was that kyle is one of the games two best playcallers, and had done really well in a couple yrs at Cleve, Wash and ATL. When he came here he was seasoned and next to Sean,. One of the two best OCs on the planet.
Add all that together with 3 drafts drafting in top 3...you pickup some very good talent that way. Sure there were busts each yr but overall our guys have a nose for talent. Kyle plus the best QB you could ask for, hand picked and trained by BB, studied 3.4 yrs under Brady, and put those two together and you had a younger version of Sean/ drew.
No secrets there, just good , smart football sense. Some games, you can see kyle scheming to set up plays half a game later. Didn't show that in N.O as you guys were just too tough
Next yr will be interesting in that we will be picking in the N.O range, near end of draft. That is when it gets a lot harder. ]
No secrets there, just good solid football and great talent evaluation. Luck too, lik with Bosa. If it hadn't been for KLiff K new AZ coach and saying he wanted Kyler murray, we don't get Boas. So as noted, some luck too.

Jimmy G healthy & Bosa
As long as Bosa is healthy and he has a decent (all pro level DT plying next to him) this defense will be elite. It would be outstanding to have Dee Ford healthy too. That's basically *two* Bosa's on this defense.

Just a thought. If Witherspoon had made that INT on Brees on their final drive it woulda been over and the theme of the week would have been 'Niners defense steps up when it mattered most'. Not that I mind what transpired after, but this game was way too close for comfort. I felt the Baltimore game was closer to our element.

1. Health (until recently); QB in particular
2. Insane ground game (200 yards a game for 6+ weeks or so); Kyle's scheme
3. Bosa, Alexander, Ford and then Sanders' additions. Edge rush in particular
4. Additions of coaches, Woods (variations to the cover 3) and Kocurek (wide 9 alignments)
5. Year 3 in Kyle's WCO system
