Updated: Biggest Individual Surprise of the Year

At this point I may have to go with Greenlaw.
I never expected Mitch Wishnowsky to carry this team to 13-3 but golly he did it
I never thought Armstead was bad, but now I'm one of the few that isn't seeing what the excitement is about him? He's a good run stopping DL, but his pass rush is average at best, and he is really slow for an edge. He's probably more of a DT. I think his sacks/pressures are much a product of the talent around him. Think Dana Stubblefield and his 15 sack season.

But I believe he is not quite as good as he looks. He is a product of Bosa and Buckner drawing a lot of attention. Plus he is in a contract year playing out of his mind.

this.
Nobody knew Armstead could play like this. Absolutely nobody. Even the biggest homer on the WZ has to be surprised by him. He was an underachieving scrub who went to NFL elite in 1 year. That actually worries me a lot. Maybe he just did it for a contract year. Some guys do that and take downs off once they get their money. But at this point we almost have to franchise tag him. I can't imagine letting him get away after he showed you this. He is benefiting a lot from Bosa, Dee Ford and Buckner too. There are just a lot of other great parts around him. He doesn't have to do it all.

There are other surprises on the list. But nothing IMO approaches the magnitude of Amrstead. It's not even close. It's an incredible turnaround.

Don't know how it can be anyone but Jimmie Ward.
