Trap game

Honestly, it was injuries. But every team has that happen to them. Unfortunatley for us, Dee Ford going down along with some D-Linemen really screwed up why our D was so great in the beginning of the year. The rotation and athleticism, but that was all gone with Ford and the depth we've lost. If you really look at it, we HAD the game, Kittle had it easily if he went forward. You can even look at the replay of Staley and Garoppollo after you can see that they laughed like they knew he shoulda went forward (could just be my delusions). But obviously, situationally, Kittle should've knew to hold the ball and just bull forward and stay in bounds instead of juking around which caused the fumble. I think he learned this lesson at a good time, personally.

Losing Richburg is huge though.
Just a moot point but the Jones play shouldn't have been a TD if you ask me. When he caught the ball he indeed had crossed the goal line but he had not set 2 feet on the ground. By the time he actually landed 2 feet down the ball was at the 1 inch line so it wasn't technically a catch til he landed outside the goal line.

IMO it wasn't a TD. Doesn't really matter though.

That was so costly. #1 seed, home field advantage, playoff bye to #5 seed.

If we beat the Rams (big if I know) and the Seahawks beat the Cardinals, it will be like this loss never happened. Still would come down to Week 17 either way.

This loss means nothing unless somehow the Cards beat the Seahawks at home.

Nothing changed based on this loss, at all.

Nothing changed in terms of us being the number one seed if we win out. However, had we beaten Atl and LA next week...and the Seahawks had lost somehow to Zona, we would have had the number one seed locked up before even playing them.

Yea but Seattle isn't losing at home to the Cards.

Wagner hurt, Diggs hurt, Clowney hurt, Ansa hurt, all could be out next two weeks

Like people are saying, we could have won today or lost today. Doesn't matter. We still would need to win in Seattle to take the #1 seed. Now we can't lose to the Rams, but all is not lost. Sherman should be coming back and we came out of this game without any new injuries to speak of.

Losing Richburg seems to have destabilized our offensive line. Jimmy didn't have much time and there were quite a few unblocked rushers throughout the game. He was also holding the ball longer than usual, which tells me that Atlanta was doing a good job on pass coverage.

What also disturbs me is that Atlanta went into max protect mode, where they had 8 people blocking on our four rushers. We didn't have an answer for that. No way are you getting to the QB with a fortress around him. So they basically expected some receiver to come open eventually, which they did.

Sherman is the ideal corner to play on Julio, given their physical style of play. Not having him today was very unfortunate. Losing Kwaun was also a big deal. Harris has some good defensed plays, and wasn't as lost as he was last week.

We'll come back from this tough loss not quite as hyped up on ourselves and get back to the disrespected underdog that we should be going into he playoffs.

I agree
If Seattle is smart they'll rest their starters on Sunday especially if we win Saturday as I don't think their seed will change much based on next weeks game.

Calm the F down.

Every single team's fans melt down after every single loss. It's ridiculous.

The sports landscape is littered with teams who had a chance and never got it done. I admit it, I'm jaded. Because of the Sacramento kings. Downhill since 2002 and we are now in a 14 year playoff drought. The A's have been cursed since Giambi didn't slide against the Yankees. Now we can't get out of the one game playoff. I hope the 9ers take care of business this year. This is their year.

As a Lakers fan, I apologize for them beating the Kings into non-existence. That is rough.

Kings also let their top talent on the team leave town. 49ers shouldn't be doing that re: Jimmy G/Bosa/Kittle/etc.

Lol no they didn't

I sure hope last weekend wasn't our superbowl.

Could have been. Permanently being down four starters (Richburg, Blair, Jones, Alexander) may be enough to not make it through the NFC this year.

Unfortunately, I fear you might be right. However, I do that IF this year's 49er team is destined for greatness, they will need to win through injuries on the road in Seattle. If they don't, well, it would take a miracle to get to and win the SB, although it's still possible... Richburg being out is HUGE

Refs also froze the game clock at 1 second after he caught it and it didn't hit 0:00 and it somehow got reviewed even though they ruled him down initially. Game should've been over and no reviews after triple zeros but the game clock somehow got frozen by new York or something.

Ohh and, even though Dee Ford isn't on that list, he's basically a ghost and can't stay healthy when he does play. Maybe he can fight through it in key moment when we need him, but in my opinion he's halfway on that list.
Vegas odds of 49ers winning the super bowl went down huge with this loss. They went from having a legit shot at home field advantage to now more than likely they will have to play in Seattle, or New Orleans, or Green Bay....none of those are places you want to go play a football game during the playoffs. Green Bay probably being the most favorable. A loss to Seattle at home is almost a forgone conclusion at this point...

Ball crossed the goalline, that's all that matters. Similar to players going out of bounds near the endzone but dive to hit the pylon crossing the goalline.

I'm not too sure about that. Those players are already in possession. Julio doesn't get possession until 2 feet hit the ground and at that time he isn't in the end zone. IDK, I could be wrong but that's my interpretation of the rule.
