Supposedly there's a flaw in their common games tiebreaker. If you click on the link when you run the scenario it says the Seahawks win based on record in common games. I was also tripped up by that and then I heard someone comment that ESPN's playoff machine had the same error last year. In common games, they'd have the exact same record if they both go 12-4 if the Niners beat them in Week 17.

No one's sure about the tiebreaker -- it depends on things like how the Redskins and Falcons, of all teams, play. But right now, the Niners still have that tiebreaker vs. the Seahawks, but that can go away quickly if the Packers and Saints both lose and the Eagles and Falcons collect more wins.

Yeah I was checking that out.

So if we lose out and everyone else wins with the higher record. (packers win out/Saints win out/Seattle wins out)

We would play Dallas/Philly. I'm okay with that (rooting for Philly). IF GB losing to Minn we would play GB in GB which is fine as well.

We would play the Packers in GB. I actually don't hate that.

I think that's our best road match up

Breaking News: Josh Gordon suspended indefinitely by NFL. That's good new for us against the Seachickens.

yeah I mixed it up...GB has to lose to Minn (which could happen). Regardless at worst we would be playing one of GB/Philly/Dallas on the road. I can handle that as long as we get our starters back.

The ball is still in our court if we win out.

I'd hate to have to play GB at GB.

Disagree. better team lose games every week in football, if it didn't happen then why watch? You act like it was Alabama vs West Carolina or some s**t lol. It's the NFL the falcons have talent.

So I guess Baltimore, Saints, Packers aren't contenders because they lost to an "inferior" team at one point.

Pointing out FACTS is not an excuse. NOW if you want to say they didn't execute some s**t to the best of their ability that's fine. LIKE dropping INTs, LIKE fumbling the ball on ATL's 35. LIKE not tackling Julio Jones 5 inches shorter of the GL. That sir, is not an excuse it's the reality of football. Sometimes the ball bounces your way and sometimes it doesn't. FWIW I don't expect guys like Reed/Harris/Garland and whoever the f**k is rushing opposite of Bosa to play as well as the starters. Injuries most certainly aren't an excuse.

So please top referring to what I'm saying as pointing out excuses.

I agree!

With that logic the
Saints are not a contender because they lost at home to the Falcons. I hope you're really concerned about the Saints as well.

Green Bay got smoked by San Diego so I guess they are not a contender and we should be concerned about them.

Seattle lost at home to the Saints with a back up quarterback. That should not of happened and the Seahawks are now not a contender.

Baltimore lost to Cleveland they actually got smoked. Baltimore also lost to Pittsburgh without Ben Roethlisberger so I guess they're not a contender either. I just don't think this is something to judge this year bc the top 5 teams have all laid an egg.

These aren't excuses it's just facts. If the patriots did not have Tom Brady and they were a seven win team I would not tell those fans to stop making excuses it's just injuries are part of the game and a lot of other teams are significantly more injured like we are. You can't tell teams to win when they don't have the players equipped to compete. A lot of these second and third string players should not be stepping on the field ideally. And it always happens to the 49ers year after year.
