If we lose this weekend I vote for us to give our self a bye Week 17. Rest everyone for Wild Card weekend at the @4 seed.

No, if that's the case then it would be a tie breaker with both teams having 2 division losses each and the same 12-4 record.

In this scenario, we would have lost to LAR and SEA in division and beat ARI x2, SEA, and LAR ... 4-2, just like SEA.

I guess what I mean is if we lose against Rams the only thing a win would do at Seattle all it would do would be take the #1 seed away from them, we would stay at 5 seed at 12-4.

Check it out: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/machine/_/factor/wins/results/401127900~2~401128040~1

That's interesting... They still have the Niners at #5 and SEA at #3 even with WAS and GB winning both games and PHI and MIN losing both games. It's possible that the rules engine at ESPN is wrong or there's something we're missing.

I agree. I think our team is going to come out super salty after this loss and make a point, especially with getting snubbed on several Pro Bowl votes.

Maybe they have a better record against common opponents

Imagine the reaction's on here if we lost lol. I expect us to take care of business though and send the lambs back home with their tails between their legs.

30-20 Niners
Deion Sanders said, "San Fran ain't losing two games in a row. I can promise you that." Primetime knows wassup!!
Guys gotta get your positive vibes going here. Appears to be split here. Never fear your opponent and always respect them. This mentality allows you overcome your opponent while at the same time not take them lightly

Yes, but are the Rams still facing the same Defensive line (49'ers) as they did the last time? The 49er's defensive unit put a lot of pressure on Goff, but if 1/2 of the unit is still out, then all bets are off. If the 49er's defensive unit can't keep the Rams off the field, it WILL be a long day! You can't score if you don't have the ball!
Add in the factor that the Rams are still playing for a play-off spot ( A MUST WIN GAME). An additional incentive for them to win.

Seahawks record in common games: 8-3
Rams L
Saints L
Ravens L
Cardinals W
Steelers W
Bengals W
Browns W
Falcons W
Bucs W
Rams W
Panthers W

49ers record in common games: 9-2
Ravens L
Falcons L
Cardinals W
Cardinals W
Steelers W
Bengals W
Browns W
Bucs W
Rams W
Panthers W
Saints W

If we lose to the Rams but beat Seattle, head-to-head will be tied 1-1, the division record will be tied at 4-2, common games record tied at 9-3, and conference records tied at 9-3. So it then moves to tie-breaker #5 with strength of victory.

Therefore, the Seahawks cannot win the division unless they win the strength of victory tie-breaker. The ESPN scenario engine incorrectly keeps saying "Seattle wins based on common games W-L-T percentage" even though that is tied in this scenario.

No Ford or D.J. Jones in this game could be huge.

Thanks OTC. Never using ESPN playoff generator ever again. Like EVER again.

correct

okay well apparently you're wrong according to global nomad.

from what I understand, if we don't beat the Rams, and Seattle WINS, then we have no chance to get the #1 seed. NO 1st round bye. that's all I'm asking.
