It's not like Richburg would be that much better. Donald gives every team fits.

Yes he would be.

They're also still in the playoff hunt - so that will be motivation, also.

They're still (barely) in the playoff hunt and have to win out, they're going to try to avenge their earlier loss to the 49ers and they want to play spoiler in the process so I think they are far more motivated now then the first game because they have the most to lose now. KS is coming off a disappointing trap game loss and is not likely to beat Seattle at C-link so if he holds back against the Rams he could find the team in huge trouble.

So the hope is that Tartt is back for SEA and Ford is back for the playoffs (hopefully 2nd week)

To be fair, NFL.com thinks the Niners have better than 50% chance of winning this game (I think the prediction machine had it at 54.4%).

Yeah I think so. Glad to hear Taylor is practicing...that would be a nice shot to the DL depth.
This time of year, every team is hurting on the injury front. Offense, defense, ST. Each unit has to pickup the other that gotten hit with worse injuries.

Offense should've pickup the slack for the defense last week. They didn't. It's time to scrap for a win.

I expect Shanahan to pull out all the stops and this will be a shredding, somewhere in the 34-17 range.

On to Seattle for the number one seed !

Still convinced that this won't be as close as some of you think. The Niners will come out poised.
I hope we get Tartt back for the Seahawks game

Marcell Harris is terrible

Not sure where to put this...here or kyle thread....so will put it here.

Anyone think kyle may have held back some players against ATL that might have been able to play...instead keeping them out another week so they are available for either LA or SEA? I wonder if kyle tried to sneak a win out by resting some injured guys who could have played but needed the time off to at least partially heal.

No idea if this is correct or not, but I wonder. I find no fault with it, and maybe the thinking went, "If we can win but still let 4 or 5 of our injured guys take a rest, losing to ATL isnn't a catastrophe,. Losing to lambs and/or SEA...yeah that is a catastrophe. Just asking.

Not sure i buy that. It would totally be a disservice to telling the team every game matters and every game matters.

I think maybe we played it safe with some of the injuries and tried to get a win without going all out and just came out short.

I think that is pretty much what I meant. To win against ATL with anybody who could fog a mirror was no where near as important as having every able bodied guy who can play...play,, first against lambs, and if anyone else is still standing, same for SEA. I bet anything kyle was aiming at last two games which definitely DO determine what happens to us. ATL...didn't matter.

And if kyle had burned the almost able guys to play in ATL game and then didn't have them in LA and SEA games....I think that would have been a horrible coaching mistake. I think kyle and john thot it thru and agreed we had to have LA and SEA...so give the wounded a week to rest up injuries, and see if we could steal a W from ATL with all our possibles held out. By my reasoning, that WAS the best bet for us.

but aside from GM/HC, no one really knows for sure.

Weak Link

I think the fall of our defense can be traced back to the minute he came out the field.

Other than stripping the ball from Lamar he's been a disaster
Troy hill CB has been ruled out for rams. Tartt and Ford have been ruled out for Niners.

Has anyone heard anything about why Moore hasn't been starting? I thought he did a good job while filling in for Ward at the beginning of the season. If Ward is as versatile as the coaches have stated he should be able to play either safety position. Ward and Moore, I believe, would be the better tandem while Tartt is out.
