SF 49ERS @ SEA SEAHAWKS PREGAME THREAD - 2019 Season Week 17

Dude has always been a brick now he's just a brick with some padding!

I think he will have a bigger impact in pass protection than running the ball. He knows the scheme and is one of only a few running backs that can stone a LB coming at him with a running start.
I hope someone is in shannys ear whispering "run the ball" so he doesn't get pass happy. Bad things happen when he abandons on the run.
Niners take this one, 30-21.

The odds of getting to the super bowl go up enormously with a win and the 1 seed.

Obesemode!!
Apparently we have NEVER beaten Russell Wilson at Seattle. Yet the Arizona Cardinals are 5 - 2 in their last 7 tries at Seattle. How do you explain that?

I can't see us doing it. Just way too many issues for this match up.

My prediction is we will have to run the ball in this game, if we can't, I think we will be doomed.

I think Jimmy G will be under duress all night long (even if Clowney is not 100%).

Is no big secret this O-line is a complete waste of space when it comes to pass pro. Run-blocking, sure, but pass protection? Forget about it, is worse than pathetic. There is a reason why the 9ers have the lightest O-line in the entire league. This line has been simply over-compromised for run-blocking.

Their linebackers already know Jimmy G loves to throw in the middle of the field. Wagner and his crew will try to shut down all the easy crossing routes as far as possible. And because of their pass rush, Jimmy won't have enough time to wait for the deeper routes to develop.

Our savior aka George Kittle who wasn't in the last game, I am pretty sure they will be double-teaming him trying to shut him down, period. That means Sanders will have to step up, but will he be able to handle their physical secondary? Last time they fractured his ribs, so it remains to be seen. That only leaves Deebo and KB, in other words, not great.

As for our D, our pass rush is far from 100%. Dee Ford is out yet again and our rotational D-linemen are no longer what they used to be with too many injuries piled up. In fact, it is so bad I have even lost count on the number of games we have gone without a single sack now, 3 games? As if that wasn't bad enough, let's add Julian Taylor to the IR list too. That means there is no way in hell we will be able to generate the kind of pressure up front like we did in the first game. In other words, Russell Wilson will have a far easier time in this game unless we keep dialing up blitzes to make up for the deficiencies.

I haven't even mentioned Beast Mode. I know a lot of people here thinks he is just a fat dude with a beer gut who will only have 5 carries and sit on the bench of the rest of the game. However, I am not one of them. Marshawn Lynch may not run all over us with huge chunk plays per se, but all he needs to do is convert on 3rd downs, 4th downs and leap over the goal line to score. None of our DBs will be able to stop him mano-a-mano unless they gang-tackle him on every single play. If you allow him to get to the second level, he will demoralize the D as they find out how tough it is to counter grown man strength.

So, if we can't run the ball, Jimmy G and the offense will struggle big time like they did in the last game. I think Jimmy will easily throw a couple of picks, the pressure up front and the noise will get to him. And quite frankly, it won't be his fault, it will be on that useless O-line.

Last time it took a Pick 6 and an INT in OT by Greenlaw for us to get to a point whereby we could tie the game, so how do I see our chances in this game? And at C-Link? I will be honest, not good, I had always chalked it down as a loss which was why I was so mega pis*ed off with Shanny for losing the last game at home.

But, what do I know anyway? I am no gambler and so far I had called for losses against the Ravens and the Saints. Both games were separated by a FG, so I am 50/50 at this point. For all I know, may be the Seahawks will play like sh*t on the night, but based on my honest analysis I doubt it. It is just really super difficult to play at C-Link and ever since Russell Wilson became the starting QB of the Seahawks, he hasn't lost a single game to us at home for 8 consecutive years and counting.

So, I will disagree with Vegas and say the odds are against us. Our biggest issues with this match-up are both the regression of our D which is huge plus the ineptitude of our O-line in protecting Jimmy G to allow him to do his thing.

The good news is they did lose to both the Rams and the Cards, so there is a glimmer of optimism there. Let's hope I am wrong...

Why so negative?

Neither do the NFL and the refs.

You mean like a win against the Saints and Rams at home?

But winning this game, helps you NOT to be one and done. A bye week only helps the 9ers in the playoffs, not to mention not having to travel.

This should be our best chance. They really haven't played well at home this year.

Also this is not the same team as the Harbaugh years and that is not the same Legion of Boom. Shanahan has proved to be a much better play caller and this team is always in the game no matter the odds. I just hope the refs don't screw these 9ers the way they did Harbaugh's 9ers.

Also IDGAF if Clowney is in, just keep pressing him with the run and make him pay for playing.
