SF 49ERS @ SEA SEAHAWKS PREGAME THREAD - 2019 Season Week 17

Shout out to Seattle doing everything they can to try to win this game. They seem to understand the importance of what's at stake.

Maybe if we had that same energy against Atlanta it would be different

was Sanders out for the last game we faced vs. Seattle?

We had no Kittle, too

and our receivers could NOT catch a pass to save their lives. Our offense should be much better off, even if we have injuries along the interior of the o-line.

Garland already has quick experience with a loud stadium starting in the middle of the game in New Orleans for Richburg, being thrown into the fire. If it becomes some sort of shootout we are at least a lot better equipped, at least offensively on the outside

But...

Is Clowney playing and are we going to be able to stop him this time?

more so than l last game. it was Staley's FIRST game back after being out for weeks and he still wasn't 100% healthy

Maybe they should have had that same energy against Arizona and LA.

the defense for whatever reason is not the defense it was two months ago but i hope having kittle and sanders helps get us over the hump,. as usual it will be about the team containing wilson. keeping him on the sidelines. they say bosa is well rested so big players make big plays and sunday night they need to lay it all on the line. close game ,3 points either way

Seems like Tartt and even Julian Taylor not being out there is affecting the defense overall more than people expected. We already know how much we need Ford out there.

tartt especially

If you don't win by 30 I will be shocked. Hawks are going to be missing:

Top 3 RB's (Carson, Penny, Prosise)
Top 2 TE (Dissly, Dickson)
C, LT (Britt, Brown)

Possibly out
Clowney, Diggs, Shaq Griffen

Suspended
Gordon, Woods

I am expecting Wilson to be sacked 6 or 7 times. Maybe put together a few scoring drives at the end. Pete refuses to let Wilson loose, so expect to see a lot of Travis Homer running into 3 DL 2 yards behind the LoS. #1 seed is yours.

It's Seattle... they haven't lost by 30 this decade except to the Rams in 2017.

If we win, it will take the entire 3.5 hours.

I am expecting a similar game as that Rams game.

Wilson likes throwing to his new TE Hollister. We need Tartt back and Mosely at starter. With all their RBs banged up/out Russ is going to be airing it out which means Spoon will still get lots of snaps even if he's not the starting RCB. Mosely played really well against them last time in man coverage. If we get him back in the starting lineup and get Tartt on Hollister we should be in good shape.

But this assumes that Saleh figures out misdirection and screens. Other teams do this to us over and over and we never have guys in position

Hahaha what a joke. Dude isn't in football shape and you damn well know he's been high as s**t now that he's retired. I'd be shocked if he passes a drug test

Don't know why he'd even come if he knew he'd fail the drug test. They probably want him to raise the flag.
I'm not sure if I have this right, but it looks like if the Vikings beat both the Packers and the Bears, and then the Packers beat the lions, then the Seahawks will drop to the 6th seed with a loss next week. So their first playoff game would be against the Packers instead of the Eagles

Give we beat the Seahawks--and we should--I am 90% certain this is correct without checking tie-breaking procedures.

This just means Pete might force Lynch the ball which is good for us. I'd be more worried about them adjusting to have Wilson make more plays than giving Lynch the ball.

Good point....much as I don't particularly like the guy, he does seem to pull out a lot of big plays when the Clucks need too.....

He's been high his whole career with several DUI's...NFL never tested him then so...ha

This is what I understand as well.

1. SF (13-3, top seed based on head-to-head victory)
2. NO (13-3, assuming a victory over Carolina)
3. GB (12-4, division winner based on better division record)
4. PHI/DAL
5. MN (12-4)
6. SEA (11-5)

ESPN's playoff machine confirms, but I don't know if strength of schedule comes to it - I've put all other games by winning % (which amusingly would be enough for the Raiders to sneak in as the 6th seed in the AFC).

Seattle @ GB and Minny @ Philly would be nice pairings actually.

But all this is academic. Let's beat Seattle first (and it won't be easy) and then sit back and enjoy the WC weekend while getting healthier. We know of course that the game on Sunday will again go to the wire. We haven't had an easy game since the Carolina blowout. How I miss those days. It's not good for my heart.
I would like to See Jimmy roll out away from Clowney like Goff did last week. He had Bosa chasing him all night and that has to wear you down. Goff isn't much faster than Jimmy so there's no reason he can't do it like he did on the TD pass to Kittle last week.
