SF 49ERS @ SEA SEAHAWKS PREGAME THREAD - 2019 Season Week 17

SEA has a suspect defense that's now missing key players in addition to top 3 RBs out, LT out, C out, no Josh Gordon. Should be a blow out (although that's what I also expected for the first game).

He's going to have to have that type of game for us to win. I want him to be the first 49ers QB to get there since Garcia as well. I think he's gonna get there, as the Hawks will be going all out to stop Mostert from destroying them. Plus, how sweet would it be to see Jimmy eating the Seahawks defense alive in front of the entire nation in week 17 for the #1 seed?

I wouldn't count the hawks out...we couldn't beat the falcons knowing they only have one real threat. With that said niners > hawks 21-17 (JG winning drive).

The last several weeks, people continue to say "oh we're gonna CRUSH so and so" -- we got handled by a losing team and barely beat the Rams at home. I wish I was that confident, but this is another high pressure game that worries the crap out of me.

Seahawks will do everything in their power to avoid back to back home losses. We've got to come out with a great game plan and execute it brilliantly.

TBH, I hope they make the mistake of signing Lynch. The expectation is that he is still going to be the same guy that retired a few years ago is laughable. With the sports I play even stepping back in after 6mo feels rusty. There is a love affair with Lynch and Seattle fans that will be dashed... I hope it happens.

I think its more about Pete Carroll "rah rah" crap than actual football. They're hoping he will energize the team and crowd. But I doubt he'll be that effective as a runner. If we can get a big enough lead they won't even have the chance to give him the ball much.

Some #s from the 1st game

Carson 25 carries for 89 rush yards (not a great game but just enough to keep us honest; I don't see Lynch or any back off the streets dropping 90 yards on us)
Seattle D - 5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries (one for a TD) and one INT

Niners 3 headed rushing attack (25 combined carries for 86 rush yards)
Niners D - 5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries (1 for a td) and one INT

Wilson 24/34 - 232 yards, 1 td and 1 int
Jimmy 24/46 - 248 yards, 1 td and 1 int

Very close game..every so slightly Seattle outplayed us thus they won the game. Niners won the turnover battle actually. So what was the difference based on the above that can be fixed? #1 After seeing what Drake did we better run the ball alot better this time #2 Jimmy had 22 incompletions (some were drops; by both teams lol) but that was a very inefficient night. We also missed a field goal and their kicker didn't miss on his attempts. Not totally accounted for is that Clowney dominated everyone in his path that night.

I don't see ALL of those things going wrong again for the Niners but I also don't think we are sacking Wilson 5x this time. All in all we have to fix the run game and/or Jimmy has to be better but BOTH cant be as bad as the first game. On the road this will be another close battle but aint it time the 49ers exercise their Seattle demons?????

Kittle was out that game and it was Staley and I think McGlinchys first game back. We also had a rookie kicker that did as well as we could expect miss the game winner.
On paper we should pound these guys, but we're playing in Seattle and they will be playing with nothing to loose. I would expect trick plays and fake punts from Carrol. Their D likes to be overly aggressive against ours so let's hope we get out without further injury.

The good news is that we have Sherman, Williams, and possibly Tartt back in our secondary. And there's only 1 Julio Jones and 1 Michael Thomas. Lockett is good and Metcalf is better than I expected, but those guys aren't HOF level talents.
Protect the Football Jimmy G. That happens, 49ers should easily win.
Well it looks like Marshawn is going to be playing. So I guess the niners need to prepare for him....

I'm just hoping for a Sherman tip redux where we come out on top. Would be poetic justice.
Marshawn Lynch

15 Carries

25 yards

We need to get back to our bread and butter on offense. Run the ball and play action. Misdirection and keep em guessing. Against LA we came out the first 2 or 3 drives and started out in the shotgun on 1st down. As soon as we get under center and play our offense 5 plays and 75 yards later we score. We need to do that from the opening.

I really hope KS was hiding stuff to unleash for this game. If we come out with the mindset that we're gonna score each time we have the ball I dont think they'll be able too keep up. If we can out shoot the Saints we can beat the a banged up Hawks team, but only if we come out with some damn urgency.

All of this.

I literally cant stand it when we play so much shotgun on offense. Makes even less sense with a backup center that was having trouble snapping the ball. Shanahan is a smart guy maybe there is a method to it

Not worried AT ALL about Marshawn Lynch for this game. ZERO. NADA. The focus was and always is Wilson. Need to figure out WTH was going on with those boots and roll outs they let slow foot Goff run for most the game. Let Wilson do that and trouble awaits. Get in Wilsons face from play #1.
