This is more a hype signing to get the crowd pumped. I'm sure the crowd will be as loud as ever when he hits the field. The niners just need to score at will to quiet the crowd.

It's like Jerry himself said even into his mid to late 40's he could give you one really great game if he were to play. It's how he felt the next day that would be the issue. Unfortunately we are getting that one good game. I still think we can handle him, but he won't be a slouch by any means.

That's exactly what it is. Pete is trying to use intimidation and crowd noise to make up for the talent gap his real clearly has. Not a bad strategy. If Lynch converts a 3rd and 1 imagine how pumped the crowd will be.
