Damn... Never knew there was so much animosity and hate towards our greats. Sad...
No hate...pointing out that Young made costly errors in the postseason costing us games. That is allowed.

Young is still a Niner great as got us a SB. But it could have been two or three SBs if Young could have consistently performed in the postseason like he did in the regular season.

Young wasn't the only player on the field. Putting the team failures all on him is anti Young biased POV.

BTW, the Cowboys and Packers were just as good or better than us. Its not like we choked. We just got beat.
I'm 100% certain that Dallas would have won four straight if we hadn't beat them in 94. Young beat one of the best teams in NFL history. I think we would have won it all if Hearst hadn't got hurt against Atlanta. The Young hate is ridiculous.
Funny story about Young. When I was a kid, he was going to get married. My neighbor was his wedding planner.
He was going to get ready at their house to keep it low key.
The neighbor said I could stop by and meet him.
He ended up canceling the wedding. To this day, I'm not sure who was more heartbroken by his decision, his fiancee or me.

Well that settles it. Young is a terrible person.
I don't always talk Montana vs Young, but when I do, I always prefer the 49ers vs Seattle thread.

Young threw costly picks and turnovers that cost us badly. Not like he went 20-30 with 1TD no picks playing a solid but not amazing game and I'm still complaining. There were costly INTs and turnovers that were on HIM.

If Young plays up to his regular season level, we were just as good as Dallas in 1992 and would win that game. We had home field and the better record.

And you are disqualified about talking about bias when you were biased as fu** talking about the Dallas games in 92 and 93 not bringing up his INTs at all and jjst mentioning passing yards and TDs. He had TWO costly INTs in the 92 game that if he doesnt make we are likely winning that game. All I wanted to see was Young play more often at the level of GREATNESS...see Im saying GREATNESS...he displayed during the regular seasons in the postseason. It is a bonafide FACT that he did not. Thus there is some disappointment in him since Montana was able to be great in the postseason much more often and thus we won four SBs...and as a 49ers fan I was spoiled by that and used to seeing that from our qb in the postseason. We were not the Eagles or Cardinals who would just be happy to be in the playoffs or be happy that we were among the best teams in the league or be happy that our QB was a hall of famer winning MVPs for REGULAR SEASON GREATNESS. We are the fu**ing 49ers...we were just team of the 80s stacking SBs. That is all that matters. And considering how great Young was he made more errors in the postseason...errors he wasnt making in the regular season. And it cost us. And we did get beat. And Young turnovers had a large part to play in that. Watch the playoff games....start to finish. All of them.

Why not bring those INTs up? Why? Because it is YOU that is biased as hell. Young was outstanding and hall of fame QB. Just not in the playoffs outside of 1994.
Chill this thread please.
Perhaps this thread title should be changed to Montana vs Young lol

Do you think Aikman was better than Young? Young did bring his team to within 4 points in the 92 NFCCG, but Dallas quickly answered with a TD that was set up by that long reception by Harper. Idk if Young would have been able to lead a comeback if our D held after Young made it 24-20. Maybe he makes up for a poor game by winning at the end like Joe did with The Catch?

Two years later we got Deion who shut down Harper, was that difference? Did us jumping out to a 21-0 lead in 94 change what plays we called and what defensive plays Young faced?

I personally enjoy the back and forth. Sometimes it's nice to see an opinion that's not made through Rose colored glasses. I personally was too young (and my memory is terrible) to remember those years so all I constantly hear is how great Steve was to the point that you would think those NFCCG losses were not on him at all.
Another thing about 92, Young had a TD pass called back because of a BS holding call early in the game. We would later take a 7-3 lead. So how much would the game have changed if we jumped out to a 14-3 lead?

And we fumbled a punt early. Watters also lost a fumble in that game. Cofer missed a FG.

Can you say for 100% certain that the picks were on him? Did his WR run the wrong route? Did his OL let the D rush his throw? Its a team game. I cant take anyone's football opinion seriously who craps on Young's career.

Just to clarify, the guys not crapping on young completely. In fact he's saying he was a great regular season QB, just that he didn't always perform up to that level in the post season. I can't confirm that one way or another, I just think y'all should actually argue his point and not make general statements like that.
