A lot of so called experts were picking the Niners to go 5-11 and wanting Lynch and Shanny run out of town too....

Yeah not too many picked 13-3 and #1 seed.

I agree the Vikings have a real shot to win this game. I think they're the only team remaining in the NFC who has a legit chance to beat the Niners.

So, seeing people predict the Vikings isn't entirely shocking. What is surprising is the recency bias. Nearly all of the analysis in support of the Vikings is "well, they just did it last week".

Yeah, they did. And the Niners have been doing it virtually every week of the season -- against a more difficult schedule.

There is a higher likelihood the Vikings have an off day than the Niners. As you said, the Niners haven't failed to show up for a single game this year. If both teams play well, I still like the Niners chances. They are 5-2 against top tier teams. Seahawks trouble me the most of the remaining teams because of Russell Wilson's escapability and play making ability. Against the Vikings I think we'll sell out to stop Cook and pressure Cousins. If we can avoid turnovers Vikes won't put up as many points as last week.

Or trade for Mason Rudolph because he's as good as Jimmy G.

Even the biggest homers had us at 8-8.

Yeah, and get Q Williams because Bosa is injury prone and not as good.

I need some goddamn 49ers playoff action.
Lot of parallels to 1981. Team went from 6-10 to 13-3 and the number one seed. The biggest boost for the turnaround came from the acquisition of a veteran pash rusher, Fred Dean. The team had an offensive minded head coach, Bill Walsh, who was ahead of his peers and gave his team an edge in every game with his schemes to exploit the opponent's weakness. The team was quarterbacked by a handsome young quarterback of Italian descent, Joe Montana, who seemed to play his best ball when the pressure was turned up. The fans, long disappointed, we hungry and loud for breakthrough success, and it was finally delivered by a roster of young, plucky players with no quit in them, who were unburdened by the team's recent history of failure. Any of this sound familiar? Go Niners! To the Vikings and beyond!

I'll take a repeat of that divisional game. Niners beat the Giants 38-24.
