The team was quarterbacked by a handsome young quarterback of Italian descent, Joe Montana, who seemed to play his best ball when the pressure was turned up. The fans, long disappointed, we hungry and loud for breakthrough success, and it was finally delivered by a roster of young, plucky players with no quit in them, who were unburdened by the team's recent history of failure. Any of this sound familiar? Go Niners! To the Vikings and beyond!
I wish we had the '81 secondary of CBs Lott and Eric Wright and Ss Dwight Hicks and Carlton Williamson.

Anyone know of any giveaways at the game tomorrow? Hope they distribute something similar to the red quest for 6 towels

football outsiders did a full breakdown of each team...using all their stats over the course of the yr they have SF winning this game.

Apparently some of the sharps were betting the UNDER and the 49ers (-6.5) when the line opened.

Yes, but I'd take Kittle over Charlie Young and Mostert and Breida over Patton and Elliot.

he's right, you know
No need to over-analyze tomorrow. There's a reason 49ers are the No. 1 seed and the Vikings are the No. 6. SF is better in every facet of the game, notably faster and more dynamic. Minnesota is a well-rounded team, but they'll need 49ers *not* playing their A-game for an upset.

I think the 49ers' B-game probably also gets the job done tomorrow. The question is how they come off the bye. Our one data point so far is MNF vs. Cleveland. 49ers looked like the fastest team in the NFL, which they are when healthy and rested, in a 31-3 win.

If we did, we would be a lock That group not only tackled well but they were ball hawks. Our current guys are good but that group was the best in SF history. We all know about Lott, who played corner that year but for those younger fans, Eric Wright was an absolute shutdown corner. They couldn't or wouldn't throw in his direction. Williamson was the strong safety that hit like a freight train. They were all rookies. Hicks was the veteran free safety who was in about his 3rd year and provide the stability to Dwight Hicks and his Hot Licks.
