Its some rare condition, almost complete loss of hearing.

For the younger Niner Fans, Huey Lewis and the News had a number of hits during the 80s and early 90s. Huey was a Bay Area transplant and became a fan I believe sometime in the 70's. He sung the national anthem for the Niners quite a few times and became good buddies with Clark and Montana to the point where he became a regular on the 49ers sideline during games. Back then the league commissioner Tagliabue was trying to cut down on celebrities on teams sidelines during games so a period of back and forth gamesmanship occurred between Eddie Debartolo and the league. The Niners tried to argue that since he was performing the anthem that he could remain. Tagliabue said no and fined the team $10k. Eddie basically gave him the finger and got Huey press credentials and a disposable camera, to which Tagliabue got a good laugh at and waived the next $50k fine.

Becoming good buddies with the Niners; Clark, Lott, Montana, and Ellison made guest appearances, singing on an album doing back up vocals and live on stage a few times.

Huey was also at the big gathering for Clark when he was nearing the end of his battle with ALS, being one of the few non-football guys to get an invite.

It's really too bad that, minus some amazing new technology, he won't be singing the anthem at Niner games again.

If its possible for a #1 seed to be any more underestimated than the 49ers are, I'd be hard pressed to find evidence of that. The Vikings have a solid roster, but they spent a ton of emotional and physical energy in beating the Saints. It's hard to find that energy again, as we well know after we beat them in week 14. Different situations obviously since this is the playoffs, but a correlation can be drawn. The 49ers after that hard fought victory in NO were flat and looked exhausted in the Atlanta game.

They need to keep the intensity for the whole game, both offense and defense. Playoff teams are too good if you lose momentum and giving a window. Every team in the playoffs are capable of taking it and get a win.

Absolutely correct! 49ers can not afford to give up ANY points particularly since they lack a deep passing game/threat that can put a TD on the board quickly. I realize that the long, sustained drives composed of running the ball before using the short/intermediate passing game is good but a quick deep TD strike would put them in a much better position and do wonders for our in-game hypertension.

Yeah...I mean, they only had 62 20+ yard plays this year.
