Who should start opposite of Sherman: Witherspoon or Moseley?

Don't pull the plug on Witherspoon. Don't destroy the man's confidence, which is already shaken. As Shanahan explained last night, Witherspoon is going through a tough period. The team cannot allow him to "play through it" and get better, not at this stage. But I would not just bench this guy and write him off. He played well early in the season. His confidence is shaken. He will get better.

Remember this: Raheem Mostert came to the 49ers with a fumbling problem. He could not hold onto the ball. But Shanahan showed confidence in the kid and Raheem got better. He worked at it. He's now one of our best backs. Look at Breida as an example. Breida did not fumble. Period. He was the most reliable of our running backs. But in the past 4-5 games? He hasn't been reliable. Do we just cut the dude or bench him? No, we continue to show faith in him by giving him limited touches until he gets through this tough spot.

I firmly believe Breida is going to play a key role for this team either next week, or if we advance, in the biggest game of the year. I also believe Witherspoon will play a key role for this team going forward. We just don't give up on our guys. Shanahan believes in all of them.

Bill, at this point of the year we can't risk putting Spoon out there to get beat. It's the NFC Championship. I see what you're saying, but I think for the rest of this season his confidence will be an issue. The injury he had really messed up his year. He can work through issues during the offseason

Shouldn't be any question - Moseley starts going foward.

This is not the time to try to build up his confidence. We're trying to win a title. At this point you put the best 11 players on the field and Moseley is clearly one of them.

This plus how is that fair to Moseley who is clearly crushing it in real games, and I'd presume doing pretty well in practice as well? He keeps getting benched because the coaching staff doesn't want to give up on a guy that's doing everything he can to give the starting spot away?

Yeah, I agree. Moseley stayed ready even when he didn't start. He's earned the right to start
Here's the question: Right now, do you trust Spoon or Moseley to cover Adams?

I don't think the answer is very hard

Yep. The only thing Witherspoon has over Moseley in covering Adams is size. That's all.

Is spoon is out there first thing Rodgers is gonna do is lob one up for Adams to go get.....no start Mosley no matter what. Mosely has been good. He's not shutdown like Sherm but he is solid.

Spoons confidence is shot, shut him down till the off-season, where he can try and regain that starting role.

Im not going to read this entire thing after "Witherspoon starts". Moseley has been the second best corner all season. This is an absolute no brainer.
Because my opinion means absolutely zero.. I say we put Rudy in at corner.

Niners right now dont need a confidence booster... one victory away from playing in the Super Bowl. Saw this in the 2011 NFC Championship game Harbaugh giving Kyle Williams chance after chance to give him confidence and it cost the Niners a to play New England in Indy. Enough of the short leash and sit Akelo Witherspoon on the bench to give the Niners a chance to go to Miami!

Is this even a question?

I couldn't believe it when they started Witherspoon in this game after how bad he has been playing. If they start him again in the NFC Championship game?! I am going to lose it.

Who determines if Witherspoon plays or not - Shanny or Saleh?
This shouldn't be a question anymore.

That's what I thought - but, some say it is Saleh.
