He absolutely did. People just forget that the superimposed yellow broadcast line is never official.

lol nice job

Plus, there just wasn't enough evidence to overturn the ruling on the field. They RARELY change the official spot.

Heads up that this image isn't of the official stick marker either (why there's no chain on it and it's not the first down marker).

The official yardage marker sticks are on the other side of the field, and that down marker is just the guy trying to line up parallel from 53 yards away.

Anyone using either this marker or the TV line as the definitive answer is full of it. We don't actually know, and where Graham is actually down is shielded by Hill's body either way so it doesn't even really matter.

The basic point still stands though that if a team's win or loss comes down to a few inches on a call that can go either way, it is the team that has put themselves in that position.

I dunno, that picture Pheonix49ers posted looks pretty convincing, to the point where the spot is not as controversial as the fans and the media are making it out to be.

I do agree with you that the team put themselves in that position. Besides, even if they are marked short, GB is going for it probably a high percentage play via QB sneak.

With all the technology they have introduced isn't it time they use a laser or GPS instead of that chain. Not only does it waste time but I never could understand how that could be accurate. The team runs out on the field, sites with the sideline and then stretches the chain which could be longer or shorter depending on temperatures. There are more accurate ways to do this.

That thing isn't accurate either. He was still short, and either way the spot was atrocious. There wasn't even a measurement because it was so bad. And that image he's already been down, his elbow hit even before that. I am glad that the packers won though, and there's a chance they go for it on 4th and inches anyways, and the Seahawks scoring is far from a guarantee.

How are you gonna to tell exactly where the ball was at the exact time the runner is down? Reviewing that every time would make the game last 6 hours.

That part is still going to be up to the official. They can still look at the ball spot like they do now so that would take any longer. All it would do is eliminate the chain gang.

did they ever bring out the chains to measure it?
Back in the days when football was really good, they would spot the ball and measure it and move on. Now we have to wait 15 minutes and listen to a bunch of BS from buck and aikman while any momentum by a team dissipates into the air. Thanks Goodell, another great job f**king up the game.
and I hate the broadcast teams more than the incompetent referees.

romo and nance I can tolerate but the rest SUCK
more and more im starting to get a sickening feeling the NFL wants to see super bowl I match up in its 100th year with GB and KC. Then again nobody gives a f**k about what happened in the 60's, a 9ers chiefs sb seeing a d like ours go against an offense like theirs would be crazy ratings

a guy on twitter was like, "His helmet is not where he would get marked down. so no he did not make the first down marker."

Back in that day Deebo's fumble would have stayed a fumble, and the game on Saturday could have been a lot different. They don't always get it right, but I still prefer what we have now.

If anyone thinks that's real they're an idiot. The NFL wants ratings. The best ratings matchup would have been 9ers ravens. The best ratings for the championship would have been 9ers/Saints, and then 9ers/Hawks. None of those things are happening now. Also theSeahawks were getting a lot more calls before that spot.

Aikman is elite, and Michaels/Collinsworth are good
