His comments were interesting, he blames the players lack of fire, he blames the coaching on the defensive side of the ball, but I don't see him taking any responsibility for his play-calling. A good tactician can be brilliant in the booth, but you have to also be a leader when you are the HC. I can't see this lasting long if it continues.

Throwing around blame is not a recipe for longevity as a HC

74-28

"Gap between teams wasn't that big"
"They got us a couple times but it was close"

He wasn't blaming. A straight assessment of his teams performance. And put himself in it. Similar to what Kyle might've told Jed at his interview.

That was Rodgers take. Dude is delusional lol

Here's LaFleur's take:

LaFleur, however, took a different view when it came to the size of the gap.

"There obviously is [a gap]," LaFleur said. "I mean, we played them twice and they took it to us two times. So that's something that we've got to take a good, hard look at this offseason because right now they're the class of the NFC. They've shown it throughout the course of the season, and that is a really good football team. It was disappointing to go out there and get beat like that."

pass is............

caught!

I know that I am in a minority, probably of one, but I don't mind Joe Buck. He's not my favourite by any measure, but I think he's good. He's especially good for baseball, but I like him for football as well. His notorious deadpan ("boring") delivery is positively vivacious compared to the likes of Summerall who's universally (and inexplicably for me) revered; and he's much better than the "excitable rabbit" types like Joe Tessitore. Is he Harry Kalas or Vin Scully? Of course not. He's not even the best of the current NFL lot , heck he's not even the best on Fox (who was the one who covered our game this year with the Saints? He's good). But he's not "dreadful".

I will agree that all commentators sometimes overdo it trying to hype up blowouts. But what do you expect? They need to keep bums on seats in front of the TV so that the Nielsens don't drop too much so as to annoy advertisers. All of them can be annoying at that. Al Michaels (who I also like a lot) does it all the time. It's annoying but inevitable.

But Seriously Folks (TM). You can't expect a national broadcaster to be as fun as the local radio one. Objectively though, or for the neutral (who's in the majority for national broadcasts), the local radio approach is never going to work. Even Kalas or Scully mentioned above mean more to Phillies and Dodgers fans respectively; and they both annoyed rival fanbases when they did national broadcasts.

Buck is allright. He has a decent baseline voice, has good chemistry with his color, and in my opinion strikes a very good balance of enthusiasm between the "Nudge him, he may be dead" Summerall and "Excitable rabbit on amphetamines" Tessitore types. He's good enough. And, as I said, I really like him for baseball, even if he's a Cardinals fan.

After the Packers scored on their opening drive in the 2nd half, he said "...and is this the start of something big for the Packers..."

What a dope.
