I pick the niners from the beginning to go 14 and 2 this year. Close enough not to bad and I also pick the niner to win the last 2 playoff game by a lot a points. A blow out....I picking the niners to "WIN" 48 to 17. And that's a guarantee.......cheeooo....bang bang niner gang

Not just the defense, but the run game.

Agree with both! Baldy just broke down Kyle's run game beatdown of Green Bay. Remember - number ONE run defense was the Baltimore Ravens, and we put a buck seventy four on them on the ground - in the friggen pouring rain where you couldn't really pass it. KC has to contain that first, and then think about the Kyle passing game. The Ravens boards are all saying during the Green Bay playoff game -- dang* we (ravens) couldn't stop Mostert, what makes green bay think they can stop the 49er run game. They were right.

After the Niners hoist their Lombardi next weekend the media will say that's nice, but how the Chiefs are a player or two away from Mahomes' dominance of the NFL and put them as favorites for the super bowl in 2021.

Not that I care that much about what happens to them but I wonder just how they would be able to field their teams once they have to give Mahomes his next contract. If he's not getting $40 mil per year I'd be surprised.
The media will be all over the Chiefs for two weeks because their offense is entertaining and they have crowned Mahomes as the best QB ever. That's fine. Those who actually watch the Niners play know. The Texans and Titans got out to fast early starts and then faltered. I don't see the Niners doing the same. The defense will contain their offense and we will control the time of possession with the run game. it's going to demoralize the chiefs.

He's definitely going to get 40+

Ward, Tartt, Moseley are all 4.4 guys. Yes, KC is fast. But if you don't give Mahomes 5+ seconds to throw the ball, that speed is somewhat negated. The key will be whether we get pressure with 4 and can bring him down.

This is where Buckner and Arik's *hold the OLine but don't get caught* technique will pay off. Those DLine stunts by the 49ers will be key to nailing Mahomes on 3rd and longs. I wouldn't mind bringing in Justin Smith to tutor them during media week.

dude getting the bye was everything. that's what the difference was in point differential in the playoffs compared to the end of the season

A healthy Ford, Kwon, and Tartt really has made a big difference. Hope we use that 32nd pick in the first round for another ford/bosa 2.0.

Not only that but I think Nick getting more rest has helped big time too. Rookie getting a lot of snaps towards the stretch who plays with his hair on fire...he was playing on fumes toward the end of the season.

Not a shocker to see him end up with 3 sacks in 2 games after getting a bye week to rest up.

Hopefully another bye week gives him even more fuel while helping our other guys too...need to get to Mahomes and put a hurting on him or he's going to put a hurting on us.

I was impressed with Zettel in the Vikings game and he did a credible back up job in the Green Bay game. He's a quick guy and when he line stunts, he's impressive. He's less impressive on his bull rushes, but he does add depth to that DLine so Bosa can rest (as you said in your post above). He's smart and heady and was able to locate where the screens were going when Green Bay was running them in the 2nd half and limit those.

AGree that Mahomes is good when he has time in the pocket, and when he scrambles, I hope we have a defensive counter to the KC scramble drills. I do know one thing, if we can guess where he's going to scramble, that should limit the defensive area he can attack to the side he is scrambling to. A corner Blitz or a DLine slant to that area should snuff those out. I'd love to see if he wants to risk throwing it across the field away from where he is scrambling, maybe he can do it, but I suspect E-Man or Ward could pick those passes off.

I'm tired of hearing about Mahomes being mobile "like Wilson, Murray and Jackson" who had success against us.

Wilson: 4.55
Jackson: 4.34
Murray: 4.3-4.4 (allegedly but probably accurate)
Mahomes: 4.8

Even Aaron Rodgers ran better (4.71) and is considered a "mobile" QB. That didn't work out lol. The main issue for us when we faced Wilson, Murray, and Jackson is we didn't have Dee Ford, Kwon, nor Tartt.

This notion that Mahomes will be able to get outside the pocket at will and make plays is ridiculous.

I don't think Mahomes is going to run away from the rush. It's more a matter of feeling his way around the rush. Montana wasn't really fast but he knew how to make tacklers miss by sidestepping. Kap had really good speed but had no clue on how to avoid the rush. It's not just about speed. I just hope they can get him moving enough to upset his timing and not allow his speedy receivers to get deep.

Yeah, he's gonna get 40, there's no way he doesn't. I don't think it will really start to hit them until 2021, though. So, they've got one more year until they eat that fatty contract. Might even be north of 40, depending on what happens this year in FA and other guys getting extended. Tannehill is up for a new deal, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Dak and Winston The QB market is gonna be crazy this year. You could see a cascading escalation of contracts that could go north of 42. That means Mahomes would probably get 45 or so. It's so freaking crazy. Jimmy G at 27.5 sounds SOOOO cheap, lol.
