Mahomes: 4.8

Even Aaron Rodgers ran better (4.71) and is considered a "mobile" QB. That didn't work out lol. The main issue for us when we faced Wilson, Murray, and Jackson is we didn't have Dee Ford, Kwon, nor Tartt.

This notion that Mahomes will be able to get outside the pocket at will and make plays is ridiculous.

I don't think Mahomes is going to run away from the rush. It's more a matter of feeling his way around the rush. Montana wasn't really fast but he knew how to make tacklers miss by sidestepping. Kap had really good speed but had no clue on how to avoid the rush. It's not just about speed. I just hope they can get him moving enough to upset his timing and not allow his speedy receivers to get deep.

Joe Montana was WAY more athletic than people gave him credit for. He ran a 4.7 at the combine and could dunk a basketball.

But I hear you. Not saying Mahomes is a statue, but he's not more mobile and does not make more plays outside the pocket than Rodgers.

History shows this chiefs offense won't put up the production it has in the past, especially against a top ranked pass defense.

Having Andy Reid as their coach helps. 2-5 in Conference chamionship games and 0-1 in Super bowls.

Did he inform Kyle Shanahan? I hate to think Shanny wouldn't be privy to this important information.
Eh his short shuttle and 3 cone is right there, what he lacks is top speed. So he can escape but might not be able to run away for long.

If he just gains 2 seconds on a 2 second drop, that forces the slower DBs to cover the faster WRs for 4 secs. And then have the ball in space.

Joe was athletic and mobile for about his first 5 years or so. He gained 59 yards in the SB game against the Dolphins. He took such a beating that his back starting giving him problems and really made him a target. He wasn't very big and the shots they gave QBs back then were awful. He learned how to slide inside the pocket just so he could survive.

Disagree. Mahomes may not possess the pure speed of the above, but he has a feel for pressure and runs smart like Wilson. Creating long strikes off of Mahomes' scrambles is KC's bread and butter. We should use our ends to keep him in the pocket and have the interior guys ball out to bring pressure up the middle. Make him a pocket passer, give him 4-5 seconds, but don't let him escape and get 10 seconds and sling it 70 yards because we lost track of one of his track star receivers. I bet he can't beat us like that. He might put up points, but so will we. Eliminate the quick strike, momentum changing plays. Make him drive the field, make pocket decisions, throw accurately with Buckner, Armstead, Thomas bringing heat up the middle bearing down. Mix in some random blitzes too to keep him guessing. Offensively, dominate possession with a good run/pass mix, keeping the Chiefs' offense off the field. I think that's how we win.

Defense typically trumps Offense and the Chiefs' offense may very well trump our defense in the SB (though i seriously doubt it). But you know what even if they do we have one of the MOST EXLPOSIVE offenses as well!! HEY YO SAY WUT??
IMO, the narrative being perpetuated by the media is just simply the laziest and easiest way for them to get people to watch the game. These are clearly just talking points, and not at all thoughtful analysis. All I've heard, or at least predominantly is: "How do the 49ers stop Mahomes?"

That. Is. Lazy. But... I do think it's the most effective way to get people to watch the game.

Contrast that with the handful of respectful talking heads who actually do their homework, where you're more likely to hear (at least in addition to the above):

How does KC stop the run?
How will Mahomes react to pressure up front with 7 in coverage?
What if the 49ers jump out to an early lead?

Obviously, those are just a couple of basic thoughts amidst many and far more in-depth ideas, but the point is the same. Why would the media want to sew any doubt about Mahomes and the Chiefs at all? That would only make A.) More work for the talking head, and B.) Make the layman fan have to think too hard.

Just look at THIS YEAR alone. See 49ers Talking Points throughout the season:

Who have they played?
What if JG has to win a game on his own?
What if the 49ers can't run the ball?
What if the defense has an off game?

Just my .02, but... I for one have zero reason to give any of this media coverage half an ear for the aforementioned reasons. I just think the TRUTH is more difficult to talk about, and probably much more painful for most to choke down. Oh yeah, one more thing...
