All these "experts" are already crowning them (chiefs) champs and putting them on a list of greatest of all time teams. They were down 24 to texans, down 10 to titans. If they were so great they wouldn't of allowed themselves to be down that much. Sure they came back, good for them but they did it against the 28th and 21st ranked defenses in the league. They now go against our #2 ranked defense and a Dline that can dominate their Oline. Our offense averaged 144 yds rushing while their defense was ranked 26th and allowed 128 yds rushing. Good luck stopping the run. Mahomes can't do much when he's on the sideline. Kyle's run game will dominate the time of possesion. It's also been proven time and time again that defense wins championships and we got the defense!

Total Offense and defense rankings
# 4 offense (9ers) vs #17 defense
#2 defense (9ers) vs #6 offense
Unlike what many experts are saying we have the advantage on both sides of the ball.

To your point, I watched the Chiefs game against the Patriots, who were the #1 defense. I thought the Patriots did a good job containing the Chiefs offense and should be studied. The Patriots have an aggressive, fast defense that sort of resembles ours. One thing they did that I thought was effective were delayed blitzes by extra DBs and linebackers. The d-line would work to contain Mahomes and when he started thinking to escape up through the pocket to run or buy time the Pats were occasionally sending a blitzed on a couple second delay. If you think about it, it's vintage Belichick -- don't let them beat you with their best weapon. KC's best weapon is an improvising, scrambling Patrick Mahomes who can demoralize a team with his legs or hitting a WR who can't be covered for as long as he can keep a play alive with his scramble. Don't let Patrick Mahomes beat you that way. Make him be a pocket passer, read a defense, throw an accurate ball, all within 4 seconds, without easy escape routes to the outside to buy time. Then, from time to time, sprinkle in a high speed blitzed, like Williams or Kwon Alexander, to get after his ass and keep him unsettled. Defensive MVP needs to be Buckner, bringing relentless heat up the middle, while Ford and Bosa take lesser glory roles of contain, ready to capture an attempted escape of Mahomes out of the pocket.

The bolded is a nice counter to a scrambling QB. Although it removes a defender away from coverage, it will speed up Mahomes' decision making when he's outside the pocket.

I agree there. If our defense can be effective enough to just slow them down, say, keep them to 28 points, how are they going to stop us? No one is talking about that. Clearly their defense isn't so hot that they fell into deep holes right out of the gate in both their playoff games. I think we could put up 35-40 points on them if our offense is clicking and Shanahan devises a good plan.

Yup. After the chiefs went up 23-7 they couldn't score or move the ball after the pats made adjustments and almost came back.

It's 1984 all over again.
I read that B/R article by Mike Freeman. He really only talked to 3 asst coaches and 2 NFL execs lol. That said the article is heavily slanted in favor of the Chiefs.

Did they just interview all AFC executives? Sure they think they are going to win.
Everybody has a plan until you get punched in the mouth......

Let's be honest, they were #1 because of the sorry teams they played, but yes their plan was somewhat effective with a much less talented Dline compared to ours. I don't think we'll need to blitz, Bosa, Buck, AA, Ford will dominate!
