I was a lot more emotionally involved in those seasons because that was the first time in my life I had seen the 49ers even have a winning season, let alone the superbowl.

Truthfully I would take that 2011 or 2012 defense over the one we currently have (as a whole). Even though I would take certain players from this defense, such as Buck/Bosa/Tartt/Ward. but that front seven in 2011 and 2012 was just incredible. Willis and Navarro was special and I genuinely think they were the best linebacker duo in modern football.
This team is better bruh imo.

We got 4 defensive lineman who could be the best defensive lineman on half the teams in the league. We got 4 of them.

Without comparing individual players , let's look at them as a unit.

Whose d-line is better? This one.

Right defensive end-Bosa>Aldon. (It's debatable but bosa is a little more consistent pressure imo)

Right 3 tech - Buckner=Justin Smith (tie)

Ahmad Brooks basically rushed on 3rd downs and we have dee Ford for that and he's on another stratosphere compared to Brooks. Plus we got Armstead who you can make a case of being our best player this year.

Defensive backs? I'm gonna say this team top to bottom has a better secondary with Sherman, Tartt, and Ward, kwaun Williams, over Brown, Hitner, Golson . The big thing is Sherman is a hall of fame guy and a healthy Ward is a pro bowl caliber guy. Maybe not as good of tacklers but better cover guys right now.
Obviously PW #52 and Bowman is the greatest LB duo ever but these guys aren't no slackers.
Offensive line. Maybe 2012 but Barely better.

Running backs, obviously Gore is probably the best niner back ever but we have three good backs this year.

QB Garropolo>Kap unless he loses the super bowl . Then he's just another super bowl loser

But this is where the difference is, this team has better receivers hands down. Deebo, Sanders, Kittle, Juice, Bourne. Better than those scrubs in 2012. No speed no yac ability team .

Coaching=well this team seems to have elite coaching

I don't know maybe I'll change my mind if we lose again but I like this teams speed and overall talent level.

2012 roster had some of my fave all-time 49ers, but this is the better TEAM and I feel like we're just getting started.

The part about Justin Smith being equal to buckner is what I disagree with. I didnt read the rest after that lol but I agreed with you until that part.

Justin Smith was special. He was a man amongst men and was incredibly consistent. He was flawless until his tricep injury. This isn't a knock on buckner cause I think he is really good but Justin Smith was special.

They're different players. Smith wasn't a 3-tech. He was a pure 3-4 Right d-end . The only reason I make a comparison is because they both lined up on the right. I think with Smith, obviously nobody was tougher or stronger but with Buckner you get a little more athleticism and sack potential. And Buckner is not even a man yet, I mean the guy might not be in his prime yet. he's a kid. And we didnt even talk about the guys we've lost. Ronald Blair also would start on half the teams in the league, same with Solomon Thomas maybe.

I am. The '88 team was what 10-6? Flawed perfection unlike '89 which was just pure perfection. In fact '87 might have been better than '88 (stupid Anthony Carter and the Vikes)

That is fair. I understand what you're saying but man I don't know if i could choose Buck over Justin.

Just looking at the lineups: (Bold indicates the player I believe to be better)

QB - Colin Kaepernick or Jimmy Garoppolo
RB - Frank Gore or Raheem Mostert
FB - Bruce Miller or Kyle Juszczyk
WR - Michael Crabtree / Randy Moss or Deebo Samuel / Manny Sanders
TE - Vernon Davis or George Kittle
LT - Joe Staley '12 or Joe Staley '19
LG - Mike Iupati or Laken Tomlinson
C - Jonathan Goodwin or Ben Garland
RG - Alex Boone or Mike Person
RT - Anthony Davis or Mike McGlinchey

DE - Justin Smith or Arik Armstead
NT - Isaac Sopoaga or Sheldon Day
DT/DE - Ray McDonald or DeForrest Buckner
RUSH - Aldon Smith or Dee Ford
SAM/SILB - NaVorro Bowman or Kwon Alexander
MIKE/WILB - Patrick Willis or Fred Werner
WILL - Ahmad Brooks or Dre Greenlaw
CB - Carlos Rogers/Tarell Brown or Richard Sherman/Emmanuel Mosley
FS - Dashon Goldson or Jimmie Ward
SS - Donte Whitner or Jaquiski Tartt

What do you guys think?

I think you left Nick Bosa off the 2019 team completely

not sure how you can compare o-lineman that were fitted into completely different schemes
That 2012 team was stacked with hall of gamers. However it was plagued with retards like kaep. It's like we had the best of the best along with concrete cinder blocks holding them back. The fact that gore Willis cowboy and bowman didn't get a ring is absolutely cruel
we'll find out in two weeks.
You give that 2012 team JimmY G and they win 2 Super Bowls. That offense was horrific and the qb play was worse when they figured out Kaepernick was too stupid to pass

From just results, this OLine blows the doors off the 2012 team. Rushing in the NFCCG - the 2020 team >>> 2012 team.
Seahawks injured a key players every year we had our championship windows open. Not saying it was intentional cus I don't know but every single time we lost a key player that crippled our runs.
Know why this team is better and always will be? You say coaching? NOPE. Talent? NOPE

Because even though Jimmy G COULD steal his teammates girlfriends he won't. He ain't about that life. The work comes first. As a leader the team respects that.

Kap forgot
Kap was/is a joke
