I'm not too young. I've got 84 as a close second to 89. Yes the 84 team was a BS call away from undefeated, but I'll take 89 as the better team top to bottom.

1) 1989
2) 1994
3) 1988
4) 2019
5) 1984
6) 1981
7) 2012
I was born in 82, so I didn't get to see the 81 or 84 team.
The 89 team is my favorite because they put an absolute clinic on against the Broncos. It's my go to game for if you want to see what an offense firing on all cylinders looks like. That team could have dropped 100 on Denver without breaking a sweat.
The 94 team is next for pretty much the same reason
The 88 team because it's the first Super Bowl I remember, and it was a damn good game.
This years team because the season has been so much fun
I can't really comment on 84 and 81 since I've only seen their games in retrospect, not live.
2012 is last since they lost, even though Jerome Boger was a complete waste.

I'm an older fan of all of the Niners Super Bowl teams and to my mind the spirit and likability of the current squad is right at the top. It's a youngish team that brings a great attitude and energy. Some similarity with the first Super Bowl team in '81 in terms of that magic and coming from last to first. Most talented and impressive teams, probably '84 and '89 IMO, the wild card being Jimmy G. If Jimmy can elevate and play his best ball on the biggest stage, this team is almost without flaws. Go Niners! Bring home #6.
I was born in 1992....so 2019, those Harbaugh teams left a bad taste in my mouth. If I were around for the dynasty years, I'd probably go with either 1989 and/or 1994

1) 1981 Nothing beats the 'first time'. Probably the least talented team of the seven (though the best DBs), but the most scrappy and determined group of the bunch.
2) 1994 Just fun to watch the talent and energy. I'm not sure there is a team in NFL history that was as good as this one.
3) 1989 Probably the second best Niner team of all time and an absolute machine. So surprised they didn't three peat after 1989.
4) 2019 Feels like 1981, looks like the 1984 team. Feels great baby!
5) 1988 Walsh's farewell. Quite a run!
6) 2012 I did like the 'us against the world' mentality that this team had, the loss stings though.
7) 1984 Fred Dean, what a beast. That D-line ate up the 'unstoppable' Dan Marino all day long.

I have very faint memories of '88 and '89, but I was basically a toddler for both, so my pick is '94. I hated the cowboys so much for the '92 and '93 losses, so when we whooped them in the NFC Championship game and became the first team to win 5 SB's, that moment is what has always defined 49ers' greatness to me.

Good analysis. My only quibble, which many people don't realize because it was before their time, is that the 1984 team was one questionable pass interference call, which allowed the Pittsburgh Steelers to get a last second field goal, away from a perfect undefeated season and matching the '72 Dolphins. Plus they totally marginalized the most prolific passing attack the NFL had ever seen up to that point in the Super Bowl, Dan Marino passing to Clayton and Duper with a good tight end to boot. I would not put that team last. IMO, probably the first or second best Niners team ever, top 3 for sure.

1984
Wendell Tyler (ex-Ram) 1500 yds. r&r
Roger Craig 1300 yds. r&r
Freddie Solomon 880 yds. (!) receiving
Dwight Clark 730 yds. receiving
Joe Montana coming into his prime, still injury-free
28/10 3630 65% 102.9 qbr
We demolished people that year. The refs stole the '83 NFCCG from us and we were determined to make sure people had no questions whatsoever who was boss.

94 was my favorite, 89 was probably the best team. 94 team was the first one I could truly appreciate... I was too young for the 80s teams

I don't disagree, that 1984 team was amazing, and I do remember that BS call. The NFL was definitely favoring the Steelers due to their run in the 70s at that time, kind of like the Pats today in getting calls to go their way. I was going off the 'favorite' Niners team. I don't know, maybe it felt too easy that year to be as exciting? I guess the same could be said for the 1989 team, but I loved the feeling of invincibility that the 89' team had, and the feeling coming off of that year that we would be the first to 3-peat.

Yup. 15-1 record, best 49ers super bowl team in my opinion, we dominated so many teams that year. A lot if the games went like the vikings game, over pretty much, by halftime.

The best team? 1984.
My favorite team - 1988. It was the first season I really became a fan, and it was such an up and down season, with the whole Montana/Young thing, playing great one week and then terrible the next... then to see it all come together at the end. It was amazing.
2019, if they pull this off, will most likely replace 1988 for me, mostly because no one saw it coming and everyone seems to keep trying to find reasons why they can't win it all.

Yes, I hear you. Sometimes you love the teams that struggle more, but persevere. '84 was smooth sailing and blew through people. What I really like about the 2019 team is that they have great combination of chemistry, talent and slogging it through so many nail biters. If they finish the job they are going to get a high place on Niners Mt. Rushmore.

Can't disagree. Probably the best football team ever. Only taint is how lopsided the NFC/AFC balance was at that time, but that '89 team also destroyed their NFC competition in the playoffs. You get my vote.
