2) 1994 Just fun to watch the talent and energy. I'm not sure there is a team in NFL history that was as good as this one.
3) 1989 Probably the second best Niner team of all time and an absolute machine. So surprised they didn't three peat after 1989.
4) 2019 Feels like 1981, looks like the 1984 team. Feels great baby!
5) 1988 Walsh's farewell. Quite a run!
6) 2012 I did like the 'us against the world' mentality that this team had, the loss stings though.
7) 1984 Fred Dean, what a beast. That D-line ate up the 'unstoppable' Dan Marino all day long.

Good analysis. My only quibble, which many people don't realize because it was before their time, is that the 1984 team was one questionable pass interference call, which allowed the Pittsburgh Steelers to get a last second field goal, away from a perfect undefeated season and matching the '72 Dolphins. Plus they totally marginalized the most prolific passing attack the NFL had ever seen up to that point in the Super Bowl, Dan Marino passing to Clayton and Duper with a good tight end to boot. I would not put that team last. IMO, probably the first or second best Niners team ever, top 3 for sure.

I don't disagree, that 1984 team was amazing, and I do remember that BS call. The NFL was definitely favoring the Steelers due to their run in the 70s at that time, kind of like the Pats today in getting calls to go their way. I was going off the 'favorite' Niners team. I don't know, maybe it felt too easy that year to be as exciting? I guess the same could be said for the 1989 team, but I loved the feeling of invincibility that the 89' team had, and the feeling coming off of that year that we would be the first to 3-peat.

Yes, I hear you. Sometimes you love the teams that struggle more, but persevere. '84 was smooth sailing and blew through people. What I really like about the 2019 team is that they have great combination of chemistry, talent and slogging it through so many nail biters. If they finish the job they are going to get a high place of Niners Mt. Rushmore.

For sure!

Man I need to go back and watch my Niner Super Bowl win dvd box set this week...
On KNBR Donte Whitner said he thinks the 2012 team celebrated too much during the week, and thats why they came out so flat. He said it really took the power outage to help give everyone time to catch their breath and settle down. Considering we dominated the 2nd half and still almost won, its safe to say we should have won if we had just came in prepared. It made me so mad to hear that. Harbaugh didn't have the team ready. How can you fall victim to not being ready from too much partying???

I always look at a QB's eyes when they come out of the tunnel before the game starts. If their eyes are big, you know the game is too big for him at the moment. Kaeps eyes looked big, and I immediately had the 'oh crap' moment. It took the power outage for him to settle down.

There are multiple schools of thought on this. There are plenty who believe a team should enjoy themselves and stay loose. Some teams play too tight because they have been burdened with being overworked and over-prepared.

Maybe this was the wrong tactic to take for the 2012. We will never know. I for one am just happy and thankful for the exciting 3 year run Harbaugh and Co gave us. Some of the best teams and best moments ever.

It would make sense that a loose team is going to play better but I imagine all teams have a certain amount of nerves coming in. In this case neither team has experience so they may both be tight at the start. Once the game gets going and they take a few hits, the nerves will go away.
Eerie 1981 parallels continue ... Niners have been favored by Vegas to win all of the Super Bowls they have participated in except 1981, where the Bengals were favored by 1. This year the Chiefs are favored by 1. Also, Bengals QB Ken Anderson was the most dynamic running QB of his era ... ok now I'm b******tting, but the rest is true. Also of note, the '94 Niners were favored by 18 and covered!

Aldon Smith and Bruce Miller both seemed like nice guys...but get a little too much alcohol in them and the demons came out. Did Bruce Millers trial ever happen or did they settle?

He should f**k with the team, all the morning of the game wear a suit (a la Nolan) til the very last moment like he's gonna coach the game wearing that, then of course change back to the red Shanahat and white windbreaker

Neon Deion laughed and clowned his way through the Super Bowl build-up in 1994. He said afterwards that the team was too tight and he was doing it on purpose to lighten things up.

It was interesting, I saw a few interviews that discussed the clash of cultures in 1994. Essentially the old guys were very methodical and business like while Sanders, Waters, and Floyd brought a light, energetic vibe that the team wasn't used to. I think it was Brent Jones who talked about it and found the young energy refreshing.
