I was wondering about my fellow Niner Faithful: Which of our modern Superbowl appearances were you are feeling / felt more confident heading into about getting a win. It's really hard for me to say... I was suuuuper confident heading into XLVII vs. the Ravens , little did I know that Flacco would have the game of his life and we would end up getting a super painful close loss. I almost feel less confident heading into LIV just because I know that Mahomes is so dangerous, but I feel like I should be more confident because I am quite sure we are the better team. What do you think?

The SB run in 2012/13 always seemed like a combination of good luck and Kaepernick's legs that no one had figured out yet. This year, we're imposing our will on people. We were the best team in the NFC.

Man i thought we were gonna roll the Ravens. Too bad our secondary made Flacco look like Montana Jr.

I was skeptical as well (in 2012/13).
I feel better about this team despite the fact that KC is better than that Baltimore team

I mean Justin Smith and Aldon Smith both had torn up arms heading into the Super Bowl. At the exact wrong time of the year. I knew that could be big trouble and as it turns out it was. People forget how much that effected our pass rush which was really so much better than what they showed in that game due to the injuries.
Mahamoes and that track team of WR's are really, really dangerous. Anybody who says otherwise is kidding themselves. I don't fear their defense that much. I think we can move the ball on them. Their offense scares me a lot. Mahomes can score in just the flick of a wrist. He's a very dangerous QB with very fast weapons. It will be an extremely tough match up. We are capable of winning it. But we will have to control the ball and run it and control the clock and keep Mahomes on the sideline. The best thing you can do with Mahomes is keep him on the sideline. Our offense will have to score a lot. Also keep the turnovers to an extreme minimum. Our interceptions and fumbles have to be kept to zero or maybe 1. We can weather 1. I can't see turning it over 2 times or more and being able to win this game with how explosive Mahomes and that offense are. Of course we have to sack him and get some fumbles and interceptions from KC hopefully. This game is not automatic. But it's also not a game we can't win like the media suggests. We can win.

Definitely against the Ravens. Should have won, such a shame that superbowl was rigged

I feel more confident about this year's team something about 2012 was off or missing especially because they could never string together more than 2 wins in a row. They were lackadaisical and would be prone to starting slow, this years team imposes their will on the opposition I'm actually excited to see what Kyle brings to the table at the super Bowl I think we show new wrinkles and dominate the time of possession

I was more confident about the Raven's SB.
As great as the team was in 1984, I had doubts we'd be able to hold down Marino . . . I feel the same this year. Hopefully my doubts will go away in the 2nd quarter like in January of 85.

The one that infuriated me to this day, is the ticky tack PI they called on Us late in the 4th... it was 31-29 and we got a stop on 3rd down.... then the refs threw a flag for PI and Baltimore eventually kicked a field goal to go up by 5.

Back in 2012/13 I didn't think the 49ers were capable of losing a Superbowl, so I was really shocked after that game. So I was more confident back then, but I was confident in the legacy.
I do however think this team has a better chance than that team.

We were physically beating everyone up prior to the Ravens Super Bowl. Ray Lewis was old and slow. I really didn't think we would lose that one. The betting line looks about right for this time around. It feels like a 50/50 match-up with the winner being the team who makes the least mistakes.

I thought we were going to roll the ravens. I was incredibly wrong as our secondary made flacco look amazing as he was closing his eyes and chucking it up there. I feel confident about this one too. But I have more faith in this team and it's offense than the offense Greg Roman ran. I was also quite depressed after the superbowl loss so I promised myself not to take pro sports so seriously (I still have great emotional connection to my college sports team so I have put more energy there I guess). I have taken a more casual approach since that loss in all sports as I have found you are let down more often than not.
