Poll: More confident heading into XLVII or LIV?

Hard to say without hindsight. On paper the 2012 49ers were a far superior team than the Ravens, but the organization had this uptight/all serious energy going Into that game. Very weird looking back at it.

Ravens came in much more relaxed and maybe that's what helped them in the first half of that game, and of course our defense had completely collapsed starting with almost choking to the Patriots in December. This time around the team is much healthier

Totally agree. I think the Niners would win if they literally started the game over. The first play was like a 25 yd completion to Vernon but was called back due to illegal procedure. It's the Super Bowl and you make a dumb penalty like that... I knew we were in trouble.

They were lackadaisical and would be prone to starting slow, this years team imposes their will on the opposition I'm actually excited to see what Kyle brings to the table at the super Bowl I think we show new wrinkles and dominate the time of possession

Agree. I was confident going into that game too, but I think the deciding factor was Colin's ineptness at QB and our injured DLinemen. Same with the Warriors, they looked like world killers with Demarcus Cousins, but take out Klay and Durant, and we got smashed in the playoffs. Injuries are the X factor in a lot of games, unfortunately.

To be honest, I was more confident in 2012.
This 2012 team was stacked top to bottom and the Ravens were a great battle tested team but didn´t have the Mahomes/Andy Reid factor.
That being said, Kyle Shanahan is the ultimate X-factor and the reason I trust this 2019 team to get the job done and bring back the trophy.
I'm more confident now because we are the underdog and the whole world besides us seems to be pulling for the chiefs. That SB against the Ravens I was super afraid of losing....this time around my vibes are a lot more positive because I have full faith in the Niners to shock the world

Easy to forget but, Crabtree had some clutch moments in that game leading to those last 4 plays. Still agree with the overall point. Pathetic play calling by Harbaugh & Roman, and even worse execution from Kaepernick. YOU HAD MOSS & WALKER OPEN IN THE ENDZONE!!!

.....hopefully better results in 2 weeks

More confident about this game.
Was scared of Suggs, Reed, and Lewis. We also lost to them the year prior. Was rooting for the Pats to win their conference that year. Media was revealing how to counter the pistol offense (always have a defender hit Kap).
This is a more complete team against an inferior opponent (compared to the Ravens).

And JH calling a timeout at the snap on the QB sweep that looked very promising . . .

Media day/week and how each respective team handles it will be a barometer for me on who's more ready for SB LIV....methinks KC will fall for the adulation and be more susceptible to the Miami distractions. Niners already spent a week in Florida a month ago between the Ravens and Saints game.

Someone in the pregame thread said to watch the QB's eyes when they walk out the tunnel during player intros...

= he ain't ready

= dialed in

We all know Jimmy G has been to the big dance before (as a backup) so there's a good chance he won't be as awed come time the actual game approaches compared to Mahomes...

Back in SB XLVII, it seemed like the Niners were the ones who fell for the media distractions, and started sluggishly thereby. Kaep wasn't ready for it either...

This time round we still have a young team, prob younger, but there's enough veteran leadership from the likes of Sherm, Sanders, Jimmy G, and Staley who've all diverse experience from being in the Bowl which I hope will level our younger players. I'm also ALOT more confident in the Niners coaching staff this time around preparing the team and coming up with a killer game plan....

Culliver and Moss both said some really dumb things during media week that left me shaking my head. Then Cully got burned in the game

I think we will win against the Chiefs. The Niners have a more complete team and I think the key is going to be our offence doing way more damage (with a lot of passing too) than the Chiefs can do against the Niner D.

That being said, I was more confident in 2012. I thought the Niners would smack them. In hindsight though, the Niners D had become very beatable at the end of the year and Baltimore just made it look 2nd tier. Also had some bad luck with the James fumble and the kickoff return and brutal play calls at the end.

How Moss never got a pass in the red zone I will never ever understand.

Definitely against the Ravens. Should have won, such a shame that superbowl was rigged

Lol excuses come on man. We played like s**t and gave up too many big plays

You can see it every time, just watch!

Don't forget John Lynch, Kyle, and Mike Shannahan plus the Niner alumni who seem to be much more welcome by this administration than the past. Lots of sage advice and steadying voices.

How many on the Chiefs roster with SB experience?

I think I have read somewhere they have 2 with SB experience.
Ravens. Just bc of Flacco.
