Is he really that slow? His football speed seems way faster than that.

Unleash the dawgs, put a spy on Mahomeat and attack. Dont let him out of the pocket, contain him and let our twin towers collapse the pocket from the middle. Wouldn't mind if we sit Pettis and activate one of the dawgs Givens to help collapse the middle with his quickness and strength in the middle.

I honestly don't think we should put a spy on Mahomes. I would however have the dlmen go after him with any rollout and let the linebackers and DBs handle the run if he acrually hands off. Certainly no cheap shots like that dumbass Florio suggests but make sure if they run those fakes and have him put his back to the defense that we make him pay for it.

Mahomes is mobile but I'm not worried about him enough as a runner to spy on him imo. He runs to pass and that's my biggest fear with his mobility. If we play zone he shouldn't get a ton of great looks to run so if our big bodies make him pay for any fakes and give our guys an easy hit then we should take it.

As far as doing our normal rush we have to try and squeeze the pocket around him and need to try and keep him in the pocket, he's most dangerous when he scrambles and hits guys down the field with huge gainers. Can't let him get outside and get him those big play opportunities.

Of course that's easier said than done...hopefully our DL plays their best game of the season and Nick has another Carolina like game in him. Wouldn't mind if Dee had himself a great revenge game too(just don't line up offsides )
This game will be won or lost in the trenches. If our front four don't get home quick and often, it could be a long day. I still think we can win a shootout, but I would prefer we fire on all cylinder and get up on them early.
Put Mahomes in the dirt with the pass rush. It's our best chance. And I think we can get home too. If we do get pressure on him we can win. If we don't get pressure on him it could be a long day.

He's really that slow for combine speed. But his game speed is more like 4.60. Take 2 tenths off for Mahomes once you enter a game. He doesn't look as fast as Russell Wilson's 4.5. But he's definitely not as slow as that 4.80 indicates at least on game days anyway.

Dee Ford will chase force him into the arms of Buckner, Armstead, or Bosa.

Does Mahommes have Kyler, Lamar, or Russell like moves to escape the rush?

No but he has a stronger arm. More accurate than all too except Wilson who is tie for accuracy when running out of the pocket and creating something from nothing.

He will make some plays but I think we can catch him.

Mahomes has no speed - but, when your scrambling and there's nothing but green ahead of you, you don't need speed.

If Ward has a bad day it will be even longerer

Hi folks. What do you think our defense will do if Kansas City decide to use misdirection plays and rollouts to slow down the pass rush? It tended to work against us in the Ravens game and I think the second Seattle game. My guess is that Reid will go over all the plays that worked against us and incorporate them into his game plan.

The ravens and chiefs are very different in their offenses.

The KC passing game is closer to the Rams than the Chiefs, IMO. They look to stretch you deep, horizontally.

Then, when you start playing really soft zones, they start running screen passes.

I see them using more what the Cards did in their 2nd game against us. Look to get their speedsters the ball quickly.

The key to this game will be sure tackling.

We'll need to play soft zones to force Mahomes to check it down, then come up and make a tackle and same with the screen game.
If we do that, Mahomey will get impatient and either hold the ball for sacks or throw bad passes into coverage.

just read somewhere that 49ers pass rush with Ford Bosa Buck and Arm on the field applies pressure on the QB at around 2.5 secs and that Mahomies average release time is less than 2.5 secs and that his qb rating is insane as well

but apparently our secondary is at its finest as well when QB's release at 2.5 or less

Slice the balls off
SMASH! Smash smash smash and more smash.

That is all.
hit him early, hit him often and run the ball down their throats to keep the ball out of his hands longer.
