I don't think we are winning any Super Bowl with the Yorks. They are good enough to get you a Super Bowl loss. And they do it consistently too.

Jed says "we win Super Bowls with the 49ers." Yet he consistently loses them. He has not shown one shred of evidence that he can win one. He had 2 opportunities and bombed out badly on both. Other teams win in the salary cap era. So that's no excuse. How did the Patriots win 6 times? They did it. It doesn't seem to bother them too much. The Yorks can get you a loss in the NFC Championship game or a loss in the Super Bowl. That's as far as it goes. That's the ceiling. Then they dismantle the team. Go straight to the bottom. Suck for a long time. Get tons of high 1st round draft picks. Get good again. Good enough to lose the NFC Championship or lose the Super Bowl.

Sometimes they get so bad for so long they stockpile high 1st round draft choices. Then they get good again. Good enough to get you an NFC Championship loss or a Super Bowl loss. Then dismantle the team. Go straight to the bottom. Stockpile high 1st round picks. Turn it around. Get good enough to lose in the big games again. Rinse, recycle and repeat. Over and over.

Even the team that won today went 50 years without a Super Bowl Appearance.

I don't know, I seem to remember the first 4 SB winning teams being built through the draft. We 'bought' a trophy to a degree in 1994 with all the high profile FA signings. Yes the cap makes it harder now, but I don't see why the 1980s can't be at least partially replicated with a good front office, excellent coaching, and sound scouting for the draft.

Some of the early ones were largely built through the draft. The 94 team was a lot of free agents. Some really good ones too. Deion being the best one and the one who put us over the hump. We could finally cover the Dallas WR's.

The last 20 years have been a total disaster. Sometimes they get so bad for so long they get "good" again. Good enough to get you a NFC Championship loss or a Super Bowl loss. That's the Yorks ceiling. That's as high as it goes.

We had the Master as our Head Coach and Lonesome George followed the script for 2 more Lombardi trophy's. Eddie D was the force to get it done. If he hadn't hooked up with a corrupt Louisiana ex governor who knows how many SB's we would have won.
