Mahomes is great and it's pretty clear. Is he the best QB to ever play the game already? Hell no.
However it's clear he's an elite QB talent and playing in that offense has him on track to be one of the best ever.
What some people do forget with the whole "We should've taken Mahomes" thing is Kyle clearly has a certain vision for his QBs and good or bad he wants them to play in his offense and not do their own thing.
Andy Reid allows Mahomes to make plays with his athletic ability/big arm and the Chiefs get some big plays out of it which make it very difficult to defend them(especially when their OL is allowed to hold like crazy) but we hired Kyle for a reason. Gotta accept the bad with the good.
How is he "clearly great?"
Andy Reid has never, ever, ever failed with a QB. It's not a coincidence.
And when you see how those QBs did with and without him, it's clear as day that he has a HUGE impact on their success.
Mahomes hits receivers who are open by a country mile and the announcers shove it down your throat that he's great for this, ignoring that Alex Smith did the same thing when he was there...and then went on to return to sucking for the Redskins the following season.
Hitting wide open receivers while having a strong arm does not make you great. Michael Vick did this for Reid in 2010.
It just means you're a product of a system with a strong arm.
If you put Mahomes in SF, the offense gets worse, not better. He does not throw slant passes as accurately as Jimmy. He does not buy time in the pocket as well as Jimmy. He does not have as quick a release as Jimmy.
And if he were in SF, he would not have Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman smoking people by 10 yards down the field. He would have Deebo Samuel, Emmanuel Sanders, and Kendrick Bourne. Only Samuel has good speed, and he ain't Hill/Hardman. No real deep threats to be found. So what's he going to add, exactly?
The fans just don't know what they're looking at.
