Draw the line at tatts! Also, loathed Arsenal, back in the days that I cared at all about soccer.

I was born in 1942 and the 49ers were founded in 1946. We lived on Fulton St. across from GG Park and just before I turned 4 my dad walked me across the street to the Polo Field to watch the "new team in town practice". Met Frankie Albert and Norm Standlee and Coach Buck Shaw. Went to my first game at KEZAR in 1947 and have loved the red and gold ever since. Been a Faithful Niner fan for 74 years.

I still have some color team photos from 1954,'55,'57 and '58 that they used to give out at the liquor stores. I think they were printed by the team sponsors. (Burgermeister beer in '54 and '55 and Falstaff in '57 and '58). They look so strange because in '54 there are only 2 black players in the photo. Joe Perry and John Henry Johnson. By '58 we still only had 5 black players. Buck Shaw was the head coach in '54 and Phil Bengston who later became the Packers head coach was an assistant.

Wow, you outdate me by 6 years, I was born in 1948. My father was a big Y A Tittle fan when he starred at LSU and I caught on as soon as he was a pro with the Niners. The 1957 playoff loss to the Lions was a heartbreaker. No doubt we would've won our first NFL Championship if we beat the Lions. The Niners had a big halftime lead and started celebrating at halftime. The walls were thin and the Lions heard everything and came out fired up. Tobin f....................n' Rote beats us.

when i became a fan in 1972, i sent them a letter saying how much of a fan i was.. they sent me back two niner pencils. two stickers and a very cool color team picture of the 1972 team. i gave it to my younger daughter who is a niner fanatic. she freaked when she saw steve spurrier, lol. i still have my niner screw on top from 1973 i got when gatoraide did the promotion where each bottle had a nfl logo screw on cap. i freaked when i finally saw one at eagles grocery store. lol. that was when gatoraide had only two flavors and only glass bottles

I actually did an interview with their team vice president in 1971. I was going to Foothill JC and took a marketing class. We had to pick any business we wanted and interview someone high up in the organization and do a written and oral presentation at the end of the year. I picked the Niners and went up to their offices (then in SF) and spent about 2 hours with their VP. I can't remember his name now. They gave me copies of the standard contracts and all kinds of promotional stuff. Golf balls and cuff links shaped like the SF logo in the football. It was pretty cool. When I sat down he told his secretary to hold all his calls and I thought 'wow I'm some dumb college kid and this guy is setting aside his whole morning for me'. Thanks to them being so generous with all the promotional stuff I got an A in that class. That was the year I got my season tickets. Unfortunately, I had to pay for them.
