I bet Staley was there as a good teammate and being a good sport, but I can't see him thinking that the party was a good idea. Not at this point in his career, not with his last chance at a ring slipping away.

I had this conversation with my teenage daughter this morning. She's a soccer player.

Her: "So why are people upset that the 49ers had that party after the Super Bowl?"
Me: "Because it sends the wrong idea that you are rewarding a loss."
Her: "Yeah, but they made it to the Super Bowl."
Me: "Let me put it this way, if your team lost the Valley Championship would you have a party?"
Her: "Oh no, we would be crying, we definitely wouldn't have a party. Yeah I wouldn't be in the mood to celebrate. That was a really bad idea."
Me: "Exactly. I don't get it. "

Don't get me wrong. The Niners accomplished more than any of us really expected this year. The future is bright. Shanny made some bizarre decisions but he is still and excellent coach and will have many, many years of success in this league. I just don't understand this decision. I wish they would have asked Lott what he thought about it on the radio this morning. I can't see him being OK with it. The standard for this organization is much higher.

I don't care about what losers do in their free time.

They get paid millions to pay a game they love. Who cares we still go back to our 9 to 5's this thread is pointless. just like jimmy g being spotted with the pornstar!

They should've made an actual "participation trophy" and #FakeRings

I think it's a good idea, don't see it as a loss party. Take it as an end of season blow out, let off some steam, come back next year without a hangover.

I give them a pass since they brought in big name singers. You may have to have that guaranteed.

Exactly. I want to know that the players want it as bad as I do as a fan, not just collect a paycheck, and "Oh well, we lost, lets party."
